Obscure Birds: 3 musicians from the Milwaukee area got together in 2016 formed a band and recorded some material that was never officially released, a 4th member joined. Some things happened, An EP was Digitally released, and a full-length CD “Hatch” was physically released. They are still a band today.
The Riverwest Aces are a Milwaukee-based acoustic music group rooted in Americana, drawing from old country and western, Cajun, folk, blues, and other roots traditions. Their name is a tribute to D.L. Menard’s band The Louisiana Aces, and they began as a side project from Milwaukee’s Aimless Blades in the early 2000s.
The Riverwest Aces are known for their eclectic, roots-oriented sound, blending genres into a cohesive live experience. They’ve backed national acts, such as serving as the backing band for Lexington, Kentucky’s Paul K in 2017. Their performances range from intimate local venues to large festivals, and they’ve played events like the Riverwest Farmer’s Market.
