Mahmoud Amireh & Friends
This is an in-person and Streaming show
Mahmoud Amireh is well known in Milwaukee’s Riverwest Neighborhood as the jolly Oud player and cashier behind the counter at Sunrise Foods for many years. Recently retired, Mahmoud is now again pursuing what has always made him most happy in life: Music!
Mahmoud’s love for music began at an early age in his home country of Jordan. At 10-years-old, he learned how to play the accordion in grade school. His next endeavor involved taking classes in high school to learn the Turkish instrument called the Oud. Soon he and some friends started a band, playing graduation and wedding parties. After high school, he joined the Jordan Army Band as a professorial musician, also taking up another beloved instrument, the Saxophone! After 16 years, Mahmoud retired from the Jordan Army Band with honors!
In the early 2000’s he and some fellow band members came to America for the first time, hired by Arabian Fest on the site of Milwaukee’s Summerfest grounds. He loved Milwaukee so much he decided to stay! Now retired from Sunrise Foods, Mahmoud is beginning to take up music again.
