CARRIE NATION THE SPEAKEASY is a high-energy “Brass ‘n’ Grass” quintet from Wichita, KS. The band, whose sound has been described as “…a stagecoach in overdrive”, has brought their eclectic blend of bluegrass, ska, punk, and dixieland to packed clubs, basements, and festivals across the US since their inception in the spring of 2007.

CNS has built a solid following playing 49 states and 8 countries with their energetic live show and ability to fit on the bill with acts ranging from bluegrass to rockabilly; punk to ska.  Thoughtful songwriting is delivered through unique arrangements and unconventional instrumentation. Throaty vocals charge over percussive guitar rhythms. Breakneck mandolin solos melt into blaring trombone and trumpet lines, while the standup bass and charging drums churn out driving rhythms that carry the force of a Kansas freight train.

Steering Ships With Empty Bottles (S.S. Web):  Spontaneous. Surprising. Weird. Energetic. Boozy. These are just some of the words that have been used to describe Milwaukee dark roots band Steering Ships With Empty Bottles. With an eclectic mix of traditional roots sounds, fast-paced punk and rock riffs, and soulful lyrics it’s no wonder they’ve set themselves apart in an expansive musical landscape. With songs to get your feet stomping and your heart weeping, there truly is something for everyone in their craft. This has offered them the fortunate opportunitie to spread their sound both all across the United States and abroad.

With four full-length albums, multiple split EPs, and tracks on a slew of samplers across the globe, you can always be sure that there’s something new on the way. The tides may change, but the ship with always sail.
