DESCRIPTION:The Mod Violets’ self-titled CD brims with sharp-angled\, guitar-driven melodies and reflective lyrics veiled in an aura of psychedelia. The band name signals an era—could The Mod Violets have been a group from mid-’60s London\, tinted with Edwardian nostalgia? At moments they sort of sound that way. At others\, the precise origins of their music are more allusive. \nThe Mod Violets are a reunion for Mark Lonteen (rhythm guitar\, vocals) and Mike Hartwig (lead guitar\, vocals). After playing together in the ’60s-pop influenced Loons\, they parted ways in the ’90s and eventually went silent. Lonteen and Hartwig regrouped in 2018 to write and record. Their first new song\, “Because She Could\,” is the least characteristic of the album—it could be a lost number from Buddy Holly’s catalogue—but lends a note of contrast to the otherwise yearning harmonies and minor keys. – David Luhrssen \nSilk Torpedo is a trashy glitter proto-punk rock & roll band featuring the work of 1970s artists such as T Rex\, Mott the Hoople\, Bowie\, New York Dolls\, the Stooges\, Aerosmith\, Slade\, Sweet\, and others.

In addition\, The Tritonics apply a unique process they’ve dubbed “doowopification” to rock n roll classics by The Beatles\, The Rolling Stones\, The Kinks and many others. Doowopification reinterprets and revitalizes (Ital-izes!) classic rock standards\, anointing them in the name of Jah with stripped down\, Jamaican roots-style arrangements\, one drop-centered rhythm and harmony-heavy vocals. \nThe Tritonics are committed to keeping the citizenry drinking\, dancing and well informed through song.  \nDan Schwartz is a Minneapolis musician who makes soulful music on the harp guitar and lap steel.

DESCRIPTION:It was in 1957 that The Esquires musical group was formed in Milwaukee. Today the Moorer family is again generating the energy and excitement of the Original Esquires. Johnny Moorer is the leading member of the group performing out today. Their debut record for Bunky/Scepter was “Get on Up”\, (1967) which became a major hit in the United States\, peaking at #11 as a pop single but reaching #3 on the R&B charts. Following the release they played Chicago’s Regal Theater and the Apollo Theatre in New York City. Further singles were also successes\, and the group released one full-length LP. After five singles on Bunky the group signed a deal with Scepter themselves late in 1968. They later returned to Bunky and then\, in 1970\, signed with Capitol Records for one single (“Reach Out”) and Lamarr Records in 1971 for “Girls in the City”.
