DESCRIPTION:Purple Funk Metropolis is acharismatic seven-piece instrumental band with a raw sound inspired by soul\, jazz\, funk\, and more. Their origins trace back to jazz classes at the University of Minnesota\, where Andrew Tomten (Bandleader and saxophone) met Alex Browne (trumpet)\, Sam Rosenstone (keys)\, Tarek Abdelqader (drums)\, and Andy Schupp (bass). \n \n\nFunky Chemist is an organ trio that fuses funky grooves with heavy guitar and adds a strand of psychedelic rock into what would otherwise be categorized as a jazz act. The music is most influenced by Stanton Moore Trio\, Soulive\, Dr. Lonnie Smith and The Meters. \nFunky Chemist released their first collection of songs 3/27/20. The band recorded with Ric Probst at Tanner-Monagle\, Gary Tanin at Daystorm mastered the album\, and the eight track effort clocks in at just under 38 minutes. Her longtime love affair with classic country\, folk\, Americana\, R&B\, and punk music braids each into Long Mama’s singular sound. The band has shared stages with Amy LaVere & Will Sexton\, Dead Horses\, The High Hawks\, Erik Koskinen\, Her Crooked Heart\, and Ben Dickey\, among others. \nLong Mama’s debut LP\, recorded by Erik Koskinen over a long\, snowy weekend in small-town Minnesota\, is due out in 2022. \n \n\nMusical missionary and tireless troubadour Jack Klatt isn’t one to be easily categorized or relegated to a narrow niche. Before she was born\, Lewis’ mother was told her baby probably wouldn’t survive due to lung trouble\, so the fact that Lewis now makes a living singing with those same lungs is a gift she never takes for granted. Lewis uses her voice to bring what she calls sacred songs into profane spaces\, and though she’s abandoned trying to define her sound\, she hopes her audiences leave shows knowing two things: that they are brilliant as they are\, and that they have the ability to use that brilliance to make a better world. \nTrained as an opera singer and classical pianist\, Georgia native Lewis has been a composer\, producer and performer for over two decades.
