SUMMARY:April 18\, 2020
DESCRIPTION:Shows at Linneman’s cancelled until further notice because of Covid-19! \nLast March\, Twin Brother officially came to an end. The conclusion of the Milwaukee project—that managed five releases between its 2013 formation and 2019—was announced by singer\, songwriter\, and founding member Sean Raasch in a video message. \n“Twin Brother is over\,” Raasch said in the video. “Something new is on the way\, but I don’t know when. I don’t know what it’s called. I don’t know what it sounds like. I don’t know anything about it yet\, but it is coming.” \nFortunately\, listeners didn’t have to wait very long to hear what Raasch had up his sleeve. Before year’s end\, the motivated musician resurfaced with a new project called Reins Daily\, which released a debut album and played its first live outing in December. With a new identity\, new material\, and a new focus as Reins Daily\, Raasch is prepared to start 2020 strong with more performances\, another record in the works and\, as of today\, a brand new music video. \nThe video for “The Rest Of My Life” finds the solo artist (who also handled videography and recording duties) braving the elements to film along the shores of Lake Michigan during some less-than-ideal conditions on Milwaukee’s South Shore. The crashing waves\, whipping winter winds\, and overcast skies ultimately prove to be well-suited for the song’s dour and emotional feel. \n“The theme\, more or less\, is about being so heavy with stress and everyday life and not even noticing the weight as a little is added over so much time\,” Raasch says. “The hope comes in as the storm washes away the pain for a second to allow you to feel light again and see clearly.” \n“The Rest Of My Life” is the first single from a forthcoming album Reins Daily will release at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn on April 18. The project will also play a show at Cactus Club on February 26. Before those shows and the record’s release\, you can watch the video for “The Rest Of My Life” now and stream the song on Spotify as well.    – Tyler Maas Milwaukee Record  /// \n\n\nMarielle Allschwang—songwriter\, vocalist\, multi-instrumentalist\, and member of some of Milwaukee’s finest ensembles (Collections of Colonies of Bees\, Hello Death)—sits at the center of the band she has named The Visitations\, where she “[commands] the stage with hushed intensity” while\, together\, her formidable ensemble “[make the past 20+ years of Milwaukee post-rock] thunder and glisten” (Evan Rytlewski\, Shepherd Express). At times gentle and beautiful\, at others brutal and terrifying\, “Allschwang’s voice seems familiar: it’s a timeless instrument\, full of sadness\, beauty\, and independence\, rooted in the fertile ground of Americana but twisted into the wilding sky of the avant-garde” (Matt Wild\, Milwaukee Record). /// \nJim Linneman is a part time acoustic guitarist and singer. \n

DESCRIPTION:Shows at Linneman’s cancelled until further notice because of Covid-19! \nRocket Cat – Guitarist Chris Guse\, bassist Dave Maurer\, drummer Steve Vorass\, and vocalist/lyricist Suzanne Singh skillfully blend their backgrounds in alternative\, progressive and hard rock\, as well as power pop. Drawing heavily from the music of their youth\, the band’s sound is fresh yet familiar. A careful listen often reveals an 80’s influence in a guitar riff\, drum beat or vocal melody. The direction of the songs are often unpredictable yet accessible\, sparking connections then slipping just out of reach. The songs are written with lush instrumental and vocal layers\, giving them depth and fullness. Listeners can focus on the groove at the surface or immerse themselves into the density of the lyrics\, melody and musical texture. \nJennifer Andrea and The Drive Down is a musical collective with piano driven singer songwriter roots\, Mike Henderson on trumpet/synth/vocals\, Ben Koshick on guitar\, Lo Lee on bass\, and Greg Wroblewski on drums\, they play both originals and covers. \nLet’s Get Weird \nDoors at 7pm\, show at 8!

SUMMARY:April 4\, 2020
DESCRIPTION:Shows at Linneman’s cancelled until further notice because of Covid-19! \nRolling through the heartland of Americana rust\, J.R. & The Strangers are on a roots rock mission to write songs and rattle stages. \nWire & Nail formed in early 2017\, when members of multiple Milwaukee bands bonded over their love of Outlaw Country and Classic American Rock N Roll. Like many of their influences\, Wire and Nail strive to write and perform music that is genuine\, enjoyable and unapologetic. \nEntering their sixth year of writing original music together\, what sets Tangled Lines furthest apart from other acts is their instrumental approach. The Welsh/British influences of lead singer James Davies\, make peace with traditional American sounds without overpowering them. \nCalifornia Jeff‘s music is truly Americana; a combination of folk\, bluegrass\, and blues with a laid back Midwestern sensibility and a working class mentality. He blends seasoned acoustic guitar playing with a distinctive voice to craft a sound that can instantly be recognized as his own.

Join us!\nStream here: Facebook.com/Linnemans-Riverwest-Inn-116315658393812\nDonate: fundrazr.com/CarpeCoffers \nBill Camplin is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist who began playing professionally in the Milwaukee Area in the late 1960’s. Bill writes and arranges his own material and has produced a considerable body of work. Bill was an integral part of the Milwaukee acoustic folk scene for many years and appeared regularly at various clubs including the Blue River Café\, Numero Unos\, The Crystal Palace\, The Avante Garde and the 19th Street Coffee House. \nBand Members\nJASON KLAGSTAD – Guitars\, backing vocals – Jason is considered one of the top live and studio musicians in the Milwaukee area and has been playing professionally for over 45 years. \nHe has been a member of several area and nationally known bands\, including stints with Howie Epstein (Tom Petty)\, Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads)\, Arroyo\, Color Radio\, Warner Bros. recording artist\, Semi-Twang\, Bill Camplin (since 1974) and the local rock band favorite\, Plumb Loco. His distinctive guitar playing style has been featured on many recordings. With Peter Buffet for example\, he recorded film\, tv and recording projects\, appearing on 3 Buffett albums and the soundtrack for the Kevin Costner television special\, 500 Nations. During his performing/recording career\, Jason also ran several area music stores\, including his own – Big Music\, a specialty music instrument store\, until the mid1990’s. \nBOB ‘HOT DOG’ MUELLER – drums\, stoicism – Forty-plus years on the SE Wisconsin music scene. The driving force behind a range of bands spanning Bill Camplin’s Woodbine to virtually every A-list blues combo (Short Stuff\, Billy Flynn\, Raw Rockers\, Leroy Airmaster) and Camplin’s current ensemble. \nPAUL WEHRLEY – Bass guitar – Although Paul played trombone in marching band while in high school\, he did not envision trombone as his musical nexus. A couple of friends needed a bass player and Paul\, always the organizer\, agreed. From 1974 – 1982 Paul co-founded and played with both RIO and Arroyo\, two of the region’s seminal Country Rock bands. His early immersion in that genre provided a deep connection with Bill Camplin’s material. \nAfter his four year stint with Arroyo he became one of region’s top studio engineers\, typically working out of Waukesha’s Breezeway studios producing albums for many regional and national Artists. During this time he also played for many years with local cover rock band\, Plumb Loco. Today\, Paul is a property manager and lives in Elm Grove with his wife Jane.

DESCRIPTION:The Mod Violets’ self-titled CD brims with sharp-angled\, guitar-driven melodies and reflective lyrics veiled in an aura of psychedelia. The band name signals an era—could The Mod Violets have been a group from mid-’60s London\, tinted with Edwardian nostalgia? At moments they sort of sound that way. At others\, the precise origins of their music are more allusive. \nThe Mod Violets are a reunion for Mark Lonteen (rhythm guitar\, vocals) and Mike Hartwig (lead guitar\, vocals). After playing together in the ’60s-pop influenced Loons\, they parted ways in the ’90s and eventually went silent. Lonteen and Hartwig regrouped in 2018 to write and record. Their first new song\, “Because She Could\,” is the least characteristic of the album—it could be a lost number from Buddy Holly’s catalogue—but lends a note of contrast to the otherwise yearning harmonies and minor keys. – David Luhrssen \nSilk Torpedo is a trashy glitter proto-punk rock & roll band featuring the work of 1970s artists such as T Rex\, Mott the Hoople\, Bowie\, New York Dolls\, the Stooges\, Aerosmith\, Slade\, Sweet\, and others.
