The band formed as a trio (Walters\, Kaehne\, Baker) in 2017\, and began to combine their solo writing into cohesive music in a leaky basement. \nWith multiple writers and frontmen\, The Nile Club gives you something to blast on your speakers in times of both joy and sorrow. Subject matter spanning from tales of fantastical creatures to the wage gap to feelings of self-illusion\, The Nile Club speaks for the losers. Recorded and mixed out of basements in Sun Prairie\, WI\, their debut LP “Motions” came out in October 2019. \n \n\nNorth Warren\, named after the street he lived on as he began releasing music\, is the creative endeavor of Luke Esperes\, an artist residing in Milwaukee\, WI. DESCRIPTION:5PM to Nowhere is an alt-pop project formed in 2020 by Milwaukee singer-songwriter Jacob Webb. Evoking the emotional balladry of Coldplay and the thematic songwriting of Sufjan Stevens\, he explores his own experiences and hopes in his music. Webb’s musical journey began following the passing of his father when he was eight years old; searching for an outlet for the grief and loneliness eating at his heart\, he turned to writing and performing music. \nWhile studying music composition at Northwestern University in Chicago\, Webb entered the OnRecord Songwriting Competition\, a music competition involving students from Chicago-area universities\, winning the competition with his song “Rumination”. During his time at Northwestern\, Webb was the Music Director of THUNK A Cappella\, and notably arranged the group’s viral cover of Bishop Briggs’ “River”. 5PM to Nowhere released it’s debut album Stoicism to critical acclaim in the summer of 2022! \n \n\nLoBi is a project started by LoBi LoBianco in the late fall of 2021. Currently consisting of Noah Bayer on Keys\, Cameron Kitzmann on Bass\, Garrett Holm on drums\, and LoBi on guitar and vocals.\n– Music evoking the sounds of frustration and catharsis\, LoBi and company’s sonically sincere sound will make you feel something. \n\nVenturer is a Milwaukee based rock concept project\, founded and led by Noah Beyer (keyboards\, lead vocals\, songwriting).  Venturer is dedicated to telling connected and interwoven stories that capture the imagination and the heart. Love each other\, and rock’n’roll. \n \n\nDoors at 7:00pm\, music at 8:00pm\, $10

DESCRIPTION:Maple Stave (Durham\, North Carolina) \n\nSince 2003\, Andy Hull (baritone guitar)\, Evan Rowe (drums)\, and Chris Williams (baritone guitar\, vocals)\, have written songs to overwhelm. In 2019\, Chris Rasmussen (bass) joined to add even lower-end. Arguments\, their 3rd LP\, due August 2023\, is an explosive amalgamation of what’s come before and a tense\, heavy album of loud songs about difficult things. RIYL: Louisville\, T&G\, Unwound\, aluminum.  \n\n \n\nBODY FUTURES \nhttps://bodyfutures.bandcamp.com/album/maybe-its-just-the-weather \nMathy power-pop from Milwaukee\, playing their first Riverwest show since the Before Times. \n[Body Futures]’ draw is twofold: there’s the band’s loud and noisy sound\, full of big guitars\, big drums\, knotty rhythms\, and a single-minded disdain for current trends. (Are “Criminal Standards” and “Another Broken String” catchy-as-hell rock songs? Yes. Do they sound like anything else on commercial or indie radio today? Nah.) — Milwaukee Record \n \n\nVILE BEES \nhttps://vilebees.bandcamp.com/album/dark-age-dad \nBuzzing and infectious indie-rock from Milwaukee featuring members of IfIHadAHiFi and Like Like the the the Death. 2022’s Dark Age Dad is a ripper that sends sawblades of guitar fuzz down your spine with a satisfying stomp\, clap\, and thump. \n \n\nDoors at 7pm\, music at 8pm\, $10

DESCRIPTION:Iowa City native Sam Knutson is an incredible talent\, a traditional folky whose skillful guitar work and songwriting pop right off the page. His new album “Donkey Island” is receiving rave reviews\, and this performance will serve as an album release! \nBuy “Donkey Island” on Bandcamp:\nhttps://samknutson.bandcamp.com/album/donkey-islandSpotify Link:\nhttps://open.spotify.com/album/5o91iphr4gmodSzCXC0zPF?si=Aag5TYlBRpa7gEJV1bRdvQ\n  \nBio:  After ten years running and writing for a pub rock band called Shame Train I literally stumbled into a job doing product placement for feature films. That paid me enough to take a year off which I used to become a better stage and sound tech\, better at seeing a bigger picture\, and to write songs to perform without a band. That led me to take closer look at the small live-performance theaters all over the mid-west called Opera Houses built alongside passenger rail lines around the turn of the last century. Iowa had tons of passenger rail\, so there are tons of small town Opera Houses. For a little over a year I have been developing programming\, booking\, doing community outreach and PR\, public speaking\, fundraising and performing as part of the folk music series The Iowa Opera House Project. \nWe have received equipment sponsorships\, donations national press\, in-state magazine and television coverage and spent almost no money on advertising. It’s a good story. It’s good for the state and being able to present world class talent that is home grown and picked to apply to a particular\, mostly acoustic aesthetic befitting these pre-electricity performance halls has lent credence to the cause\, and the Opera Houses. \nOnce a forgotten part of the history of the mid-west\, The Iowa Opera House Project seeks to bring the Opera Houses back to their rightful place as the centers of community entertainment tailored to their towns or as destination venues by presenting entertainment\, and gaining media coverage locally/show and on a larger scale covering the Project. \n \n\n  \n\n\nLuke Cerny is a self-taught guitarist and composer from the Northwoods of Wisconsin. In 2014 Luke left his corporate job and started freelancing in pursuit of writing\, collaborating\, and performing. His first album chronicles the past 10 years of his life. It features an eclectic collection of songs he’s written over the decade that reflect his musical evolution and initiation into the roots of American music. \n \n\n\n\nEthan Keller is a singer-songwriter from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. He was voted Solo Artist of the Year in the 2011 Radio Milwaukee Music Awards\, and Pop Artist of the Year in the 2011 Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) Awards. \n \n\nDoors at 3:30pm\, show at 4pm\, $10.

Raised in Kenosha WI\, Sam become obsessed with the music and decor of this era and devoted himself to channeling the music of that era as a backdrop for the stories he shares in his songs. \nIn addition to 50s & 60s era influences\, the band also incorporates touches of 70s disco\, 80s synth-pop & 90s grunge/alt-rock to provide a bottomless repertoire chock full of energetic & soulful originals as well as inventive versions of old favorites + modern pop songs The band’s latest release OCEAN SHORES (EXPANDED EDITION) features their rockabilly version of Taylor Swift’s “Shake it Off”\, their disco take on Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance with Somebody” & their Stones-y rendition of Dua Lipa’s “Levitating.” \nThe band’s unique and transformative live show has led them to has stare the stage with Fleet Foxes\, Violent Femmes\, Mudhoney\, Ben Gibbard\, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion\, La Luz\, Archie Bronson Outfit\, The Fastbacks\, Red Elvises\, Graham Parker and members of Pearl Jam & Soundgarden at some of the Pacific Northwest’s most prestigious venues.  \n“”Let your faith –the assurance of things hoped for\, the conviction of that music which has yet to be heard– guide you. For Sam Russell is the light.”” – Sean Jewell\n— American Standard Time \n“a Midwestern bizarro version of Springsteen’s Asbury Park circa “The Wild\, the Innocent and the E Street Shuffle.”……Like so many artists you gravitate toward\, the river runs deep in Russell”\nPaddy FIneran\, Kenosha News \n“more a garage-soul band more than anything\, but they work in lots of other stuff. (Sam) has loads of stage presence and a strong voice”\nDon Slack\, KEXP 90.3\, Seattle \n \n\nThe Nightinjails are a Milwaukee-based duet – two established female artists\, combining acoustic guitar\, violin\, and vocals.  Their setlist pulls from classic rock and grunge icons like Nirvana\, U2\, Led Zeppelin\, and David Bowie\, remaking classics into a captivating acoustic live show. \nThe songs and artists are legendary\, the Nightinjails do them justice by performing these tunes in a female acoustic style that is impossible not to love. \n \n\nDoors at 7:00pm\, Music at 8:00pm\, $10

DESCRIPTION:The Best Westerns meld instrumental virtuosity and the powerful charm of classic songs old and new\, from way out West to Tin Pan Alley. Some call it swing\, some call it jazz\, some might think it’s rockabilly\, and some even call it western music. And that’s how you know it’s Western Swing. \nThe six-piece ensemble features fiddle\, piano\, guitar\, steel guitar\, acoustic bass\, and drums. \nThe repertoire ranges from Bob Wills to Benny Goodman\, with stops along the way for Slim Gaillard\, Speedy West\, Count Basie\, and Carl Smith . . . or Carl Perkins . . . or Ray Price. Incorporating influences too numerous to name\, the band’s creative synergy leads to a growing core of original compositions. \nMost of all\, it’s dance music. The band runs on rhythm. Once people are dancing\, the Best Westerns are in business. \nAbout the Band \nMark Hembree recorded and toured with Bill Monroe (“Father of Bluegrass Music”)\, the Nashville Bluegrass Band (“O Brother Where Art Thou?”)\, the Dreadful Snakes (produced by Béla Fleck and Jerry Douglas) and Monroe Doctrine. He also can be heard in recordings with Peter Rowan\, David Grisman\, Tony Trischka\, Roy Bookbinder\, Randy Travis\, and Neil Young (among many others). Recent years have brought commemorative appearances at events reuniting Bill Monroe bandmates\, such as MerleFest and Garrison Keillor’s “A Prairie Home Companion” (along with ex-Blue Grass Boys Del McCoury\, Peter Rowan\, Roland White\, Bobby Hicks\, Blake Williams\, Bob Black\, and Tom Ewing). Grammy-nominated albums include the Nashville Bluegrass Band’s “To Be His Child” and Peter Rowan’s “Blue Moon Rising\,” not to mention a recording credit on Randy Travis’ platinum-selling “Storms of Life.” \nSince returning to Wisconsin\, Hembree has played bluegrass with the Rounders and the Nob Hill Boys\, rockabilly with the Liam Ford Band\, and western swing with the Western Box Turtles and\, now\, the Best Westerns. \nSteel guitarist Eddie Rivers is widely acknowledged as the the world’s best on his instrument. Over more than a decade with the Western swing supergroup Asleep at the Wheel\, he recorded and performed with many well-known stars of country music including Willie Nelson\, Ray Price\, Merle Haggard\, and many others. Eddie’s solo album\, “Plain Talkin’ Man\,” earned 5-star ratings across the board on Amazon. \nDrummer Andy Pagel has powered several Wisconsin Area Music Industry (WAMI) award-winning bands\, including Liam Ford and\, with Hembree\, the Western Box Turtles. Pagel’s resumé stretches from punk in New York City to Milwaukee’s Johnny on Washday and the Who tribute band Substitute. He recently played drums on Asleep at the Wheel steel guitar alum Eddie Rivers’ album “Plain Talkin’ Man.” \nThe rock-solid beat is further charged by veteran guitarist Tim “Beezer” Ferguson\, long-known to Wisconsin fans since bands such as Radio Flyer and Ida Red\, which also included Eddie Rivers. \nOn fiddle and vocals\, Mark Roeder is a multi-instrumentalist swing man with several bands and has been performing all over the Midwest for decades. \nPianist Anna Brinck is the brains of the outfit\, with degrees in music\, physics\, and electrical engineering – that is\, when she’s not with the Best Westerns knocking the ivory off the keys with her percussive rhythm and incendiary solos \n\nDoors 7:00PM\, Show 8:00PM\, $10

DESCRIPTION:Long Mama’s music blisters with the heart and grit of someone who has lost hard\, loved harder\, and licked her burns until they stung then silvered. In a drafty attic just west of the Milwaukee River she grew up on\, you’ll find songwriter Kat Wodtke (Wood-key) raking through notebooks in search of a salve: words\, stories\, and sounds to temper the dumpster fires we never mean to light. Flickering behind each song is Wodtke’s lived insight into our human faults & fissures – the moments in life when we can slip and lose our footing\, or claw our way out…better people on the other side of the blaze.  \n\n\n\n\n\n\nWodtke was raised in Southeastern Wisconsin by two radical\, musician-turned-teacher parents. Often left to wander through the stacks of People’s Books as a kid\, she discovered a love of reading – devouring everything from Carson McCullers and Ralph Ellison to Sam Shepard and Tu Fu. In the basements and living rooms of Milwaukee’s Riverwest neighborhood\, a gangly teenaged Wodtke was captivated by scrappy DIY bands that defied categorization and carved their own paths. Wodtke eventually moved to Minneapolis where she waited tables and immersed herself in the mercurial Twin Cities music scene. They traveled to Alaska for seasonal jobs\, living in a small\, secluded cabin. All the while\, Wodtke observed and wrote\, studying the curious characters who always seemed to hang their hats in her unsettled heart\, whether they paid rent there or not.\n\n\n\n\n \nWith years of drifting in her rearview mirror\, Wodtke made their way back home to Riverwest. After the death of a close friend in 2018\, she struggled to make music. It took time – and a heap of tenderness from friends and family – for her to pick up a guitar again. When she finally did\, music became a raft – or maybe more like a submarine – through the strange wilderness of heartache and grief\, loneliness and love\, risk and abandon. With a growing collection of original songs and buoyed confidence\, Wodtke coined the name Long Mama (after a prickly\, shade-loving cactus) and teamed up with guitarist Andrew Koenig and drummer Nick Lang\, a pair whose chemistry adds dusky afterglow to Wodtke’s musical landscapes. Upright bass ace Samual Odin came aboard soon after\, along with regular collaborator Eva Nimmer\, whose backing vocals blend so elegantly with Wodtke’s that one could mistake them for blood harmonies.  \n \n\n\n\n\nLadybird is the latest project from Milwaukee musician Pete Freeman. Freeman’s previous work includes the excellent 2020 album Meat & Potatoes\, the delightful 2019 album Wisconsin Stories\, and that song about Front Row Amy. Oh\, and that hilarious “Milwaukee River” song\, which I (Matt) named my “Favorite Milwaukee Song I Played For My Kid Every Time We Crossed The Milwaukee River.”  Joining Freeman in Ladybird are Scott Parker (bass)\, Sam Szymborski (guitar)\, and Aidan Gouran (drums).  -Matt (Milwaukee Record)- \n\n\nAlso adding to the bill will be Maximiano!! \n\n\n\n\n\nDoors at 7pm\, music at 8pm\, $10
