SUMMARY:Ryan Meisel Quartet Album Release * November 7\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Ryan Meisel Quartet Album Release party\, available for the first time on Vinyl! \nJarred “Electric” represents one of the biggest musical risks Ryan has taken on a recording project. Stretching boundaries\, he wanted to capture the edginess of 80’s and 90’s rock and heavy metal along with the fusion of the 1970’s. Playing through an FX processor gives him the chance to create fresh sounds that fuse improvised jazz with electronic experimentation. This album features all Meisel original compositions along with the musicianship of Milwaukee’s own\, by way of Minneapolis\, Cody Steinmann on guitar. \nThursday November 7th\, 2024 \n7:00 p.m. \n$10 Cover\, 21+ \nRyan Meisel: Soprano\, Tenor\, & Baritone Saxophones\, EWI\, Korg AX3000G Processor.Cody Steinmann: GuitarMatt Rodgers: Electric BassJake Polancich: Drums

SUMMARY:Bunk Bed Album Release w/ Known Moons\, Sex Scenes\, & Buena Cara * November 8\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Bunk Bed is a Milwaukee based indie art rock band that consists of Corey Gibb\, Chris Ouchie\, Nicholas Ouchie and Bob Schaab. Their influences range from psych\, surf\, metal\, jazz\, and everything in between\, making their songs a journey of genre bending glory. The band formed in the summer of 2022 and released their debut EP “Top Bunk\, Bottom Bunk” in November of that year. Matt Wild of Milwaukee Record describes the two-song debut: “One listen to the two-song Top Bunk\, Bottom Bunk reveals a delightful stew of herky-jerky riffs\, shout-y gang vocals\, and math-y arrangements (“Crowd And Judgement”)\, as well as jam-band tendencies and a love for early Built To Spill (“Bum”). Both songs are excellent.” The band is set to release their full-length album “Roughhousing” in November 2024. Through energetic and sweaty live shows to absurdist DIY music videos\, Bunk Bed strives to take over the world. \n \nWhile Known Moons is a brand new project that only recently announced its existence to the world\, many listeners in Milwaukee and far beyond are likely well aware of its members. The new outfit was founded by Milwaukee multi-instrumentalist Andrew James\, who you might know from his work in Paper Holland and Flat Teeth or as a touring member of nationally-known indie acts M.A.G.S. and Oso Oso. Having fragments of songs that needed to be fleshed out\, James called upon some friends and collaborators to help fill in some of those gaps and bring the material to life. \nJames enlisted the help of Silver City Studios co-owner Josh Evert—who also played in The Fatty Acids\, Jaill\, and his current endeavor Dinner Set Gang—and M.A.G.S. mastermind Elliott Douglas\, who spent a week writing and recording material at Evert’s studio back in January. Today\, the first of those songs has seen the light of day. – Milwaukee Record \n \n\nFormed in 2016\, Milwaukee four piece Sex Scenes returned with a new lineup and a new batch of songs\, eventually releasing the Fed Up EP in November 2023. Loud and snotty\, Sex Scenes deliver short bursts of hardcore punk that’s as furious as it is fun. \n \n\nBuena Cara is a three-piece emo band from Milwaukee. \n\n  \nBunk Bed Album Release w/ Known Moons\, Sex Scenes\, & Buena Cara \nDoors at 7:00pm\, Music at 8:00pm\, $10

SUMMARY:Dovekeeper w/ Holly Haebig and Rachel Raven * November 10\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee musician Yonat Piva is a singer-songwriter guitarist who performs under the stage name Dovekeeper. Her songs vary from introspective 70s AM radio singer-songwriter acoustic tracks\, contemporary blues rockers to world and roots soundscapes. \nBefore returning home to Milwaukee\, she was performing around the San Fransico Bay Area since 2011 as ‘Yonat & Her Muse’ – a folk-soul ensemble reminiscent of Norah Jones meets Adele and has shared the stage with artists such as post rock musician Fink and singer-songwriter Foy Vance. In 2014 they played TEDx Berkeley to an audience of 1400 at Zellerbach Hall. \nHolding Yonat’s songs together at the core is always an intrinsic message of self-experience\, reflection\, and empowerment. She returns to the stage in 2024 to weave new music with the well-loved songs written over a decade ago. \n \n\nHolly Haebig plays music from the heart\, for and with people of all ages inviting them to reflect on life’s complexities as well as celebrate life’s endless possibilities. \nShe is best know for inviting audiences to sing\, dance and play along to familiar and original songs\, building a sense of a joyful musical community. \nBorn and raised in Milwaukee\, she’s a proud MPS alumni where music was valued as much as science and math. Over the past 20+ years she has played regularly with well known groups such as One Drum\, Kirtan with Ragani\, Devanation\, Painted Caves\, De La Buena\, Urban Empress and The Urbanites\, The Earth Poets and Musicians\, Express Yourself Milwaukee and a popular duo with her brother-in-law Jeff Bray. \nIn 2011 she released “In Love We Trust” which can be found on iTunes and YouTube \n \n\nRachel Raven has performed in many venues from coffeehouses to clubs and theater. She is also a busker\, having performed the streets of Europe\, New York\, Chicago\,California and Boston. \n“When I sing\, people know it. A matrix of sound\, emotion\, and serenity weaves through the house: singer to audience\, audience to singer\, and all to one another. The external disappears and my voice becomes one with my heart. It is the sum and soul of who I am as a performer.” Covers from Janis Joplin\, Joni Mitchell\, Etta James\, The American songbook\, Dolly Parton\, Neil Young\, many more and an abundance of original compositions \n \n\nDoors at 3:30\, Music at 4:30\,  $10

SUMMARY:Beats Workin' w/ Bill Camplin * November 14\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Beats Workin’ \nThough not unique it is no less true that Beats Workin’ is the outgrowth of a series of jam sessions attended by 5 guys who love traditional bluegrass music\, while believing the genre is not set in stone- that through the joy of making music\, tasteful and creative contributions are waiting to be discovered (we think Bill would be proud!). As we each looked at the other 4 concluding we were all near-irreplaceable\, the transition to a band seemed quite natural. \nWho’s in the Band? \nViktor Brusubardis- Bass\, vocals \nViktor brusubardis began performing on the bass in the Spring of 2021\, joining members of Chicken Wire Empire\, The Millbillies\, and co-founding the Milwaukee bluegrass band\, “Sugar Bush.” He has shared the stage with artists Dead Horses\, Billy Bronsted (Billy Bronsted and the Bluegrass Buddies)\, Mike Mangione (Mike Mangione and the Kin)\, and others. Viktor enjoys playing different genres including Jazz\, Classical\, Bluegrass\, Folk\, Americana\, and Old Time Music. When Viktor is not playing the bass he performs as a classical cellist in Milwaukee’s Festival City Symphony and teaches cello in the Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra’s Progressions Program. \nKen Finkel- Banjo\, vocals \nKen Finkel got involved in Bluegrass while at the University of Rochester (NY). Largely self-taught\, he made his way to Cincinnati where he met Dede Wyland and Jim Price through mutual friends. During a gig in Chicago\, they came down along with Peter Knupfer and Dan Crownover. Turned out they formed Grass\, Food\, and Lodging. In their five years together\, they built a strong regional following and gained national recognition\, appearing on the Prairie Home Companion\, and many prestigious festivals around the country. \nPeter Roller- Dobro\, vocals \nPeter Roller plays Dobro with Beats Workin’ and is a longtime performer and composer of fingerstyle and slide guitar music. In the 80’s he was main accompanist for 1’st generation bluesman Yank Rachell\, acting as Producer and playing guitar on the Grammy-nominated Blues Mandolin Man album. In the 90’s Roller’s original lap slide instrumental Rancho Mirage was included on the popular compilation Masters of Acoustic Guitar\, while he also performed and recorded with dance band Paul Cebar & the Milwaukeeans\, gospel quartet The Masonic Wonders\, and Violent Femmes bassist Brian Richie. After retiring as Professor Emeritus from Alverno College\, Roller returned to his early love for Bluegrass and old-time Country Dobro\, writing adventuresome pieces and performing with eclectic band The Resonators along with Beats Workin.’ \nJohn Stineman- Mandolin\, vocals \nGrowing up in Wabash\, IN\, John Stineman was introduced to Bluegrass music by the many people who migrated from Appalachia for employment. Upon witnessing an exceptional flat picker in the local music store\, he decided he could “do that”\, bought himself a guitar and commenced. After refining his musicianship and moving to Florida\, he founded the Kitchen Table Boys\, his first success in music. He eventually became a member of Big Timber Bluegrass\, a long time Orlando-based band that been founded by Chubby Anthony\, who had fiddled with the Stanley Brothers\, and later featured frequent guest appearances by Chubby Wise\, legendary fiddler with Bill Monroe in the late 1940’s. Upon moving to Ashville\, NC in 2001\, he co-founded One Leg Up\, a five piece swing ensemble that toured the Southeast until 2019. \nJerry Wicentowski- Guitar\, lead vocals \nAs a teenager growing up in New York City\, Jerry was inspired to sing Bluegrass music by the recordings and personal appearances in New York-area clubs of first generation bluegrass artists riding the wave of the 1960’s interest in folk music. His high clear voice carries on the tradition of the pioneers of Bluegrass\, but his singing is far from a pale imitation or carbon copy of those early greats. Jerry’s performances have uniqueness\, depth of feeling\, and most important\, respect and reverence for the music. He revisited the material of one of his early inspirations in his most recent CD\, a tribute to Mac Wiseman entitled\, ‘Thanks\, Mac!’ Mac himself praised Jerry’s work saying “Jerry\, I’m flattered by your interpretation of my material and I think it’s a wonderful piece of work! I heartily endorse it\, and I’m very pleased that you’re carrying on my legacy.” In October of 2019\, just prior to pandemic’s onset\, Jerry featured material from his recording on the stage of Nashville’s historic Station Inn\, accompanied by some of that city’s outstanding Bluegrass musicians. \nDoor at 6:00pm\, Music at 7:00pm\, $10

DESCRIPTION:New Beliefs hosts a singular cosmic event on the night of Friday\, November 15th at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn! Come celebrate the release of their new EP “Wheels In Motion”!With special guests: Convoy!  A James Shelp & The Rolling Hills!  $10 at the door! Their new EP “Wheels In Motion” releases on 11/15/24 and showcases a blend of vintage influences. From the jangly americana of 60s Laurel Canyon\, to the choogle and twang of 70s cosmic country\, and on through the progressive pop sounds of post-beatlemania UK. SUMMARY:90 Proof w/ The Taxmen\, and Chili
DESCRIPTION:90-Proof is an eclectic mix of musicians with wildly different lives that were brought together by the love of music and performing. United in Madison\, 90-Proof has been busy creating and entertaining with big plans for the future. Formed in 2019\, the jam-band collective decided to take things to the next level writing music and staging live performances for larger audiences. After just one year of performing paid shows the group was able to raise enough funds to record their first studio album\, Lucid Dream in the summer of 2021. Inspired by two years of personal and world struggles\, the album is something that is special to each member. Despite the changing times\, members coming and going\, and the sheer weight of the financial world\, the core of 90-Proof is still burning bright with new music on the horizon. \n \n\n“The Taxmen“\, a Milwaukee-based band\, featuring Anthony (Bass)\, Jeff (Guitar)\, Will (Guitar)\, and Will (Drums)\, are not only known for their Beatles covers but also for their original compositions. Their performances encompass classics from the 1950s to the present day. Blending the familiar with the new\, “The Taxmen” are carving out their unique space in the local music scene\, captivating audiences with their diverse repertoire of covers and original songs. \n \n\nChili the Band is a group that like to incorporate a singer-songwriter style into the fusion blues & soul that they jam. With a good mix of instrumental sound\, Chili provides a vibe that all can enjoy. \n \n\nDoors at 7:00pm\, Music at 8:00pm\, $10

SUMMARY:Groove Grease w/ Alpha Transit * November 29\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:It was a cold night in Waukesha at the Cue club when the Grease first encountered the Alpha Transit. The music that was euphoniously displayed sent the greaser’s into a psychotic state of bliss and intrigue. Gear movement ensued\, compliments were duly appointed\, and the seed was planted.\nTime passed (much as it does..) and the grease was a’rock’n Linneman’s (much as they do..) when much to the greaser’s delight one of the Alpha Apostles appeared and spoke of a future musical endeavor.\nNow we have picked the day of November 29th\, 2024 due to its universal importance and planetary alignment significance to present a once in a lifetime event.\nGroove Grease will open the show at 8:30pm and will be prepping a couple brand new songs and few oldies that haven’t seen the public in many a moon. Alpha Transit will follow and bring the musical fury of a thousand swords.\nThis grouping of musical importance will likely alter the fabric of time and space. Those who attend can look forward to transcending their mortal bodies for the evening and hopefully expanding their melodic view of their present reality.\nHope to see you there..\n\nGroove Grease\nAlpha Transit\n\n\n\nBLACK FRIDAY NOVEMBER 29.2024\nDoors 7:30\nGroove Grease 8:30Alpha Transit 10:30Linneman’s Riverwest Inn1001 E Locust St\,Milwaukee\, WI 53212$10 Door

SUMMARY:Winefred RT w/ Maximiano\, & Gunnar Schmitz * December 5\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Winefred RT is the folk project of Chicago-based artist Zoe Bockhorst. Her music draws heavily from the legacy of folk storytellers and is shaded with the perspective of city life. Winefred RT’s stark observational storytelling often captures the melancholy of relationships alongside the quiet beauty of everyday moments. Her forthcoming acoustic EP “Anything Better To Do” captures this ethos\, reflecting a journey through heartbreak\, growth\, and finding comfort in transience. \nRaised in Milwaukee and steeped in the Midwest’s vibrant indie scene\, Winefred RT’s music resonates with listeners seeking emotional depth and relatability. You might like to listen to Winefred RT in the backseat of a car\, your forehead on the chilled glass\, watching the raindrops roll down the window. \n \n\nMaximiano’s music is almost never about just one emotion\, moment\, or person. It is about the way that experience flows and how music can express this growth and change. Riding waves of indie folk orchestration\, Maximiano’s passionate voice conveys heartbreak\, love\, and vulnerability. Their lyrical style\, heavily informed by their training as a writer and poet\, combines evocative images and confessional lines to fit the balance of each song. The result is a flowing\, expressive sound that guides you on an emotional journey through changing dynamics\, the weaving of melody and countermelody\, and a devotion to the truth of emotion: that it is ever-changing. \n \n\nGunnar Schmitz \n \n\nDoors at 6:30\, Music at 7:00pm\, $10

SUMMARY:The Bill Camplin Band * December 6\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Bill Camplin is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist who began playing professionally in the Milwaukee Area in the late 1960’s. Bill writes and arranges his own material and has produced a considerable body of work. Bill has been an integral part of the Milwaukee acoustic folk scene for decades and still appears regularly at the city’s top music clubs.  Tonight joined by his band! \n \nBand Members\nJASON KLAGSTAD – Guitars\, backing vocals – Jason is considered one of the top live and studio musicians in the Milwaukee area and has been playing professionally for over 45 years. \nHe has been a member of several area and nationally known bands\, including stints with Howie Epstein (Tom Petty)\, Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads)\, Arroyo\, Color Radio\, Warner Bros. recording artist\, Semi-Twang\, Bill Camplin (since 1974) and the local rock band favorite\, Plumb Loco. His distinctive guitar playing style has been featured on many recordings. With Peter Buffet for example\, he recorded film\, tv and recording projects\, appearing on 3 Buffett albums and the soundtrack for the Kevin Costner television special\, 500 Nations. During his performing/recording career\, Jason also ran several area music stores\, including his own – Big Music\, a specialty music instrument store\, until the mid1990’s. \nPAUL WEHRLEY – Bass guitar – Although Paul played trombone in marching band while in high school\, he did not envision trombone as his musical nexus. A couple of friends needed a bass player and Paul\, always the organizer\, agreed. From 1974 – 1982 Paul co-founded and played with both RIO and Arroyo\, two of the region’s seminal Country Rock bands. His early immersion in that genre provided a deep connection with Bill Camplin’s material. \nAfter his four year stint with Arroyo he became one of region’s top studio engineers\, typically working out of Waukesha’s Breezeway studios producing albums for many regional and national Artists. During this time he also played for many years with local cover rock band\, Plumb Loco. Today\, Paul is a property manager and lives in Elm Grove with his wife Jane. \n\nBill Camplin Band live at Linneman’s!   Friday\, December 6th!!  Doors at 6:30pm\, show at 7:30pm.  $12 Cover

SUMMARY:Luke Callen w/ Old Pup\, & The Nunnery * December 8\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Join us for an experimental evening of Collaborative Midwest Music featuring The Nunnery (Eau Claire\, WI) – Old Pup (Milwaukee\, WI) and Luke Callen (Minneapolis\, MN) and joined by a rhythm section composed of Chris Gray on Drums and Simon Cropp on Bass.  These musicians are frequent collaborators behind the scenes and will be joining forces for three nights on stages across the Upper Midwest showcasing songs from their own catalogues as well as a handful of improvised compositions – ranging from cosmic country and americana to dream pop and extended vocal techniques. \n\nLuke Callen is an adept songwriter and fingerstyle guitar player – making his home at the intersection of Harry Smith’s Old Weird America and the Strange Country he finds himself in today.  His experiments in song and guitar have led him to write deeply nuanced pieces about the American experience as well as proficient instrumentals based in the soundscapes of the natural world.  https://lukecallen.com/ \n \n\nOld Pup creates warmly haunted folk music – combining curiously unique lyrics on top of cosmic arrangements that create a cosmic landscape here on earth.  Well known for his songwriting and singing – Old Pup also plays an intrinsic role in producing some of the Midwest’s up and coming musicians – alongside joining a number of them on his two sad machines – the Pedal and Lap Steel. https://oldpup.bandcamp.com/music \n \n\n\n\n\nThe Nunnery begins with one voice\, layered upon itself becoming a lush soundscape. She is an independent musician that bridges the gap between bright-eyed pop composition and hands-on atmospheric live layering of voice. Her vocal loops give us the kind of detail and wide multi-octave range that we might come to expect from a marquee pop star\, while her production decisions continually keep us guessing as to what rabbit holes her tracks might fall into next.  https://thenunnerymusic.com/home \n\n\n\n\n\n\n \n\nDoors at 5:00pm\, Music at 6:00pm\, $10
