SUMMARY:May 11\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Milwaukee singer/songwriter Charlee Grider Milwaukee singer/songwriter Charlee Grider draws inspiration from artists like Billie Eilish\, Amy Winehouse\, and Third Eye Blind. She sweetly reflects on loneliness in her song “Thursday Afternoon”1. Charlee’s debut album\, “October Disarray”\, was released in 2021 and you can find her active posts on Instagram @charleegridermusic. Additionally\, Charlee is a Film student at UW-Milwaukee and the Singer/Rhythm Guitarist for the Milwaukee Garage Rock band\, Scam Likely2. Charlee’s energy and creativity continue to thrive in the city she considers her roots—Milwaukee. \n \n\nCosmic Lovechild was conceived as an homage to the forefathers of R&B\, rock and soul. Their heartfelt tunes evoke feelings of loss\, love\, longing\, hope\, dreams and everything in between. Performing with intense conviction\, burning passion and commanding authority; Cosmic Love Child is sure to leave you with your hearts full and your minds expanded. \n \n\nCullah (Born Ian McCullough on April 27\, 1991 in Milwaukee\, WI) is a multi-disciplinary artist\, producer\, songwriter\, engineer\, and entrepreneur who has been releasing an open-source album of music every year\, since 2006\, on April 27th. \nHis performance style varies in instrumentation and accompaniment. Referred to as “The Beck of Milwaukee”\, Cullah explores a variety of musical styles. Backed by different ensembles\, Cullah may be found playing a folk set with a banjo and guitar or an electronic set with samplers and synths. No matter the instruments\, Cullah’s voice comes through strongly. His performance is dynamic and captivating in a way to connect with his audience that is deep and primal\, as he has been taught by his family\, passed on through the generations. \nCullah describes his pull towards music as “not a choice” and as a magnetic and constant presence in his life; as inherent to his being\, perhaps even in his DNA. His grandfather Dick Wolff\, orphaned at a young age\, would perform the fiddle in bars in Erin\, Wisconsin to make just enough money to eat that day. His mother\, Mary\, was one of seventeen children including eleven daughters (all named Mary) and 6 sons. His grandfather told endless stories of divine visions and visitations from angels\, many delivering music. Cullah’s two grandparents and seventeen aunts and uncles would participate in the largest family band in American history called The Wolff Family Band. \nCullah’s artistry has a strong storytelling focus as he explores the deeper meanings behind myths and their symbols rooted in the sacred divine inspiration of Awen and in theological\, mythological\, and philosophical topics such as Jungian Psychology\, Gnosticism\, Tolkeinism\, etc. \n \n\nHanna Simone is a 24 year old American singer songwriter from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. Influenced by Brandi Carlile\, Jewel\, and H.E.R.. In a live setting\, a driving passion is evident as her blues vocals blend with the high-energy rock edge provided by the musicianship and creativity of her band. Intricate lyrics\, matched with her timbre\, demonstrate her musical sensibilities as an independent artist. Hanna aims to persuade the audience to feel a real musical connection and intimacy with lyrical vulnerability and honesty. \n \n\n7pm doors\, music at 7:30pm.  $10 adv/$15 DOS

SUMMARY:Daniel Rey & the Revenirs w/ Bellends\, & Eric Hagen * June 7\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Daniel Rey & the Revenirs are a Chicago Alt-Country outfit whose tunes embrace a sonic sensibility reminiscent of the Drive-By Truckers\, Whiskeytown\, Son Volt and the Sadies. \nThe Revenirs sound revolves around singer/songwriter Daniel Rey’s tales of “sorrow and solitude” like a fever dream embodied by the many “low down” souls he’s encountered along the way. The band features Dennis Kardys on guitar and Dean Radzik on drums\, both alums of Chicagoland alt-country darlings\, The Dirty Green alongside former The Soup (Denton TX) bassist\, Dodgy Mary (Chicago) vocalist and Lone Star Native “Catfish” Willy Hudson on bass. \n“Daniel Rey” began as the solo Alt-country\, side-project of singer/songwriter Dejan Kralj (day-on kraal)\, who has spent the last three and a half decades as the bass guitarist and one of the primary songwriters for Milwaukee’s reclusive alternative-rock band\, The Gufs.  The former Atlantic Recording/EMI Publishing Artist and 2012 Wisconsin Area Music Industry Hall of Fame Inductee is a life-time resident of the Midwest\, Rey (the Spanish translation of Kralj) and divides his time between his current home in the Veltway community of Berwyn and a small farm in Southeastern Indiana\, which has been the source of his alt-folk/alt-country musings over the last twenty-five years. \n\nBellends formed in the studio around a project that evolved into the record “A Feast for the Crows”  Now making waves with their unique mix of heady driving rhythms\, soaring guitar solos\, and lyrics that cut straight to the heart. Their songs tell the stories of love\, loss\, and the struggles of everyday life with the passion and intensity that could only come from the streets and dives of Milwaukee. When they take the stage\, the band delivers their catchy hook driven songs with that same train driving intensity.  Beginning to end their performances are moving as they are powerful. \n \n\nBased in the MIdwest\, Eric Hagen‘s well-rooted sound rings with perplexing authenticity\, suggesting he illegally phone-tapped into the wellspring at the heart of all timeless classics. Often praised for his powerful voice\, he can infuse a modern story with gospel-like depth. \nHagen has been writing and performing a delicate blend of intimate\, vulnerable lyrics and musical hooks. \nHis debut album\, “Revival”\, received rave reviews. \nAmericana UK gave the album a 9 out of 10 and said “‘Revival’ is emotionally challenging and beautiful. Savour this album slowly\, first listening to the careful mixture of music and mood\, then allowing yourself to be moved by the memories it revives while marvelling at the magic of the man who put it all together. \nHagen’s new EP\, “Memories Don’t Love You Back”\, is out now on all streaming platforms. \n \n\nDoors at 7:00pm\, Music at 7:30pm\, $10
