DESCRIPTION:It was in 1957 that The Esquires musical group was formed in Milwaukee. Today the Moorer family is again generating the energy and excitement of the Original Esquires. Johnny Moorer is the leading member of the group performing out today. Their debut record for Bunky/Scepter was “Get on Up”\, (1967) which became a major hit in the United States\, peaking at #11 as a pop single but reaching #3 on the R&B charts. Following the release they played Chicago’s Regal Theater and the Apollo Theatre in New York City. Further singles were also successes\, and the group released one full-length LP. After five singles on Bunky the group signed a deal with Scepter themselves late in 1968. They later returned to Bunky and then\, in 1970\, signed with Capitol Records for one single (“Reach Out”) and Lamarr Records in 1971 for “Girls in the City”. They are a beloved and well known group originally helped formed by Harvey Scales\, and now consist of Rudy Jacobs of The Seven Sounds\, and Johnny Moorer\, the son\, who continues the musical legacy. \nWith special guests Buster “P”\, Tammy Moorer and Valerie B With V-Funk

DESCRIPTION:Bill Camplin is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist who began playing professionally in the Milwaukee Area in the late 1960’s. Bill writes and arranges his own material and has produced a considerable body of work. Bill was an integral part of the Milwaukee acoustic folk scene for many years and appeared regularly at various clubs including the Blue River Café\, Numero Unos\, The Crystal Palace\, The Avante Garde and the 19th Street Coffee House. \nBand Members\nJASON KLAGSTAD – Guitars\, backing vocals – Jason is considered one of the top live and studio musicians in the Milwaukee area and has been playing professionally for over 45 years.  \nHe has been a member of several area and nationally known bands\, including stints with Howie Epstein (Tom Petty)\, Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads)\, Arroyo\, Color Radio\, Warner Bros. recording artist\, Semi-Twang\, Bill Camplin (since 1974) and the local rock band favorite\, Plumb Loco. His distinctive guitar playing style has been featured on many recordings. With Peter Buffet for example\, he recorded film\, tv and recording projects\, appearing on 3 Buffett albums and the soundtrack for the Kevin Costner television special\, 500 Nations. During his performing/recording career\, Jason also ran several area music stores\, including his own – Big Music\, a specialty music instrument store\, until the mid1990’s.  \nBOB ‘HOT DOG’ MUELLER – drums\, stoicism – Forty-plus years on the SE Wisconsin music scene. The driving force behind a range of bands spanning Bill Camplin’s Woodbine to virtually every A-list blues combo (Short Stuff\, Billy Flynn\, Raw Rockers\, Leroy Airmaster) and Camplin’s current ensemble. \nPAUL WEHRLEY – Bass guitar – Although Paul played trombone in marching band while in high school\, he did not envision trombone as his musical nexus. A couple of friends needed a bass player and Paul\, always the organizer\, agreed. From 1974 – 1982 Paul co-founded and played with both RIO and Arroyo\, two of the region’s seminal Country Rock bands. His early immersion in that genre provided a deep connection with Bill Camplin’s material.  \nAfter his four year stint with Arroyo he became one of region’s top studio engineers\, typically working out of Waukesha’s Breezeway studios producing albums for many regional and national Artists. During this time he also played for many years with local cover rock band\, Plumb Loco. Today\, Paul is a property manager and lives in Elm Grove with his wife Jane.

If you are new to the this concept (or if you just need a little refresher)\, here’s how it works: \nSixty-four (64) people will be randomly assigned into 16 bands comprised of 4 members each. They’ll have approximately two 2 months to come up with 20 minutes of original material. There will be a 2-night showcase of all the bands at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn. Doesn’t that sound like fun? DESCRIPTION:Frances Luke Accord are an independent Chicago-based duo hailing originally from South Bend\, Indiana. Both dedicated multi-instrumentalists and meticulous songwriters\, Nicholas Gunty and Brian Powers distinguish their music with genre fluidity\, buttery harmonies and acoustic ensembles. Although prevailingly a modern folk band\, FLA sip copious inspiration from Americana\, jazz\, soul\, and rock.\nSince forming during their senior year at the University of Notre Dame\, Frances Luke Accord’s approach to music has marked a boundless evolution. In December of 2012 the duo released their first record\, Kandote\, a not-for-profit\, intercultural collaboration with the Barefoot Truth Children’s Choir of Kkindu\, Uganda — an endeavor that continues to support the primary education and musical aspirations of the choir. Bringing their world/folk sound to Chicago in the summer of 2013\, the duo quickly garnered local and regional attention for their captivating live performances and stunning self-produced releases\, including the Queen for Me EP (April 2014)\, Live @ Strobe (April 2015)\, and\, most notably\, their debut full-length album\, Fluke (May 2016). \nAfter traversing 5 continents and 20 countries with only a guitar and a backpack\, Humbird returns home to sing songs from the edge of the world. Combining a wintry longing with the warmth of a familiar folktale\, Humbird stretches traditional genres of folk and Americana to embrace the unexpected. This music invites a refreshing dissonance into the house\, it leaves breadcrumbs along the path and reflects light back at the stars.

DESCRIPTION:The Carolinas were formed in Milwaukee in 1993 by singer-songwriter Dan Patscot and quickly became regional Americana favorites. Dan’s from-the-heart songs are brought to life by the innate chemistry of the band\, which can deliver a lovely two-step twang or Crazy Horse-like thunder as the song demands. \nThe band has won fans all over North America with appearances at the now-defunct Mississippi River Music Fest in St. Louis\, North by Northeast in Toronto\, and the Roy Orbison Festival in Wink\, TX\, and have shared the stage with the Smithereens\, Veruca Salt\, Walter Salas-Humara/The Silos\, Bob Wiseman of Blue Rodeo\, Sam Llanas\, Dolly Varden and Jon Dee Graham of the True Believers. \nNoted for their glacier-like forward progress\, they have nearly 50 original songs in their repertoire\, precisely five of which have actually been released on a commercially-available sound delivery medium. Currently in their 20th year\, the band is working on not one\, but two full-length records. \nBy the way\, not the same band as the Florida one with the same name. But we cheerfully challenge them to a rock-off for the rights to the name.
