Since their inception in 2017\, Bodhicitta has captivated audiences across the midwest with their high-energy blend of funk\, rock\, jazz fusion\, bluegrass\, and countless influences. The band has performed and shared the stage with members of Los Lobos\, Umphrey’s McGee\, .moe\, The Wailers\, Thievery Corporation\, Digital Tape Machine\, Joe Marcinek\, Marcus Rezak\, Kofi Baker (son of Ginger Baker)\, Ladysmith Black Mambazo\, and many touring acts from around the country. DESCRIPTION:Formed in August 2013\, The Grovelers were a project conceived by life long friends vocalist Skip and guitarist Graff. They quickly added Dane on drums and bassist Lemonie Fresh. Based out of Milwaukee\, WI\, The Grovelers are a high energy rock & roll band with a scorching original sound that draws influence from late 50’s rockabilly\, early 60’s garage rock and 80’s punk rock. \nThe Quilz is a Dream Pop/SynthPop/Synthwave/indie Pop band from the Midwest\, USA\, formed in 2015. Vocalist Becky Heck and guitarist/keyboardist/producer Sage Schwarm (formerly of Codebreaker\, The Sounds of Time) create original tracks featuring cinematic\, dreamy vocals with modern production as well as an eclectic mix of select covers. 2018 saw the release of their 2nd EP entitled simply The Quilz – Vol. II. DESCRIPTION:Hailing from the great state of Wisconsin\, PHUN specializes in playing the music of the iconic jamband Phish. For over a decade\, the band has brought this music to Phans with the focus\, the energy\, and the respect it demands. \nThe band has an extensive musical history including a touring production of Gamehendge (The Man who Stepped into Yesterday)\, an Annual Hippy Xmas holiday event\, and countless shows at festivals and clubs. In 2019\, the band appeared at Summerfest in Milwaukee opening for Dark Star Orchestra. \nGuitarist Mike Scieszinski founded the group in Madison\, WI in 2009.  “I decided early on in this band that we wouldn’t try and recreate entire Phish shows. Instead\, we would focus on using the song forms to improvise with our own voices\, work hard on vocals\, and nail down the composed parts. Bill writes and arranges his own material and has produced a considerable body of work. Bill was an integral part of the Milwaukee acoustic folk scene for many years and appeared regularly at various clubs including the Blue River Café\, Numero Unos\, The Crystal Palace\, The Avante Garde and the 19th Street Coffee House. \nBand Members\nJASON KLAGSTAD – Guitars\, backing vocals – Jason is considered one of the top live and studio musicians in the Milwaukee area and has been playing professionally for over 45 years. \nHe has been a member of several area and nationally known bands\, including stints with Howie Epstein (Tom Petty)\, Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads)\, Arroyo\, Color Radio\, Warner Bros. recording artist\, Semi-Twang\, Bill Camplin (since 1974) and the local rock band favorite\, Plumb Loco. His distinctive guitar playing style has been featured on many recordings. With Peter Buffet for example\, he recorded film\, tv and recording projects\, appearing on 3 Buffett albums and the soundtrack for the Kevin Costner television special\, 500 Nations. During his performing/recording career\, Jason also ran several area music stores\, including his own – Big Music\, a specialty music instrument store\, until the mid1990’s. \nBOB ‘HOT DOG’ MUELLER – drums\, stoicism – Forty-plus years on the SE Wisconsin music scene. The driving force behind a range of bands spanning Bill Camplin’s Woodbine to virtually every A-list blues combo (Short Stuff\, Billy Flynn\, Raw Rockers\, Leroy Airmaster) and Camplin’s current ensemble. \nPAUL WEHRLEY – Bass guitar – Although Paul played trombone in marching band while in high school\, he did not envision trombone as his musical nexus. A couple of friends needed a bass player and Paul\, always the organizer\, agreed. From 1974 – 1982 Paul co-founded and played with both RIO and Arroyo\, two of the region’s seminal Country Rock bands. His early immersion in that genre provided a deep connection with Bill Camplin’s material. \nAfter his four year stint with Arroyo he became one of region’s top studio engineers\, typically working out of Waukesha’s Breezeway studios producing albums for many regional and national Artists. During this time he also played for many years with local cover rock band\, Plumb Loco.

He was a singer\, percussionist\, horn player and drummer who took his bands and duties as a musician seriously. Whether you knew him as a fixture of the Riverwest music scene\, a multimedia artist\, a Frisbee (Guts!) player or the bald\, goateed pilot of the neighborhood’s iconic\, virtually indestructible\, white 1993 Toyota Previa (ask us about that van’s timely\, magical appearance at a Linnemans Peace Through Music show a few years back)\, you know that he inhabited all those roles fully and with style. \nDave Bolyard was about as memorable as they come\, but when he left this world\, he departed quietly\, in the middle of a global pandemic that twisted our sense of time\, obscured his sudden absence and prevented his tribe from gathering together to share stories\, hugs and tears. Finally\, on this night\, we come together in person to remember him through song\, our shared and treasured memories and to raise funds for the Pancreatic Cancer Action Network.

Mr. Hooker was my biggest influence and inspiration not only in my professional career\, but also in my life as well. The man and his music taught me a lot of things about life and the meaning of Selflessness. \n\nThe Blues Howlers and I will be putting on a big Birthday Tribute show at Linneman’s Riverwest Inn at 4 PM sharp. He has appeared on NPR’s All Things Considered\, The BBC’s World Service and has been featured in publications like Harp\, Relix\, Paste\, MOJO\, Oklahoma Magazine and Truckers News as well as newspapers like The London Times\, Toronto Star\, Chicago Sun-Times\, The Village Voice\, Kansas City Star\, Philadelphia Inquirer\, and Michelle Shocked’s JAMS Magazine. \nThe Memphis Flyer led its terrific CD review with the question “Does anyone in modern pop music have a more intriguing biography than Bill “Watermelon Slim” Homans?” \nSlim was born in Boston\, his father was a progressive attorney and freedom rider and his brother is a classical musician. He was raised in North Carolina listening to the housekeeper sing John Lee Hooker songs. Slim attended Middlebury on a fencing scholarship but left early to enlist for Vietnam. While laid up in a Vietnam hospital bed he taught himself upside-down left-handed slide guitar on a $5 balsawood model using a triangle pick cut from a rusty coffee can top and his Army issued Zippo. lighter as the slide. \nSlim first appeared on the music scene with the release of the only known protest record by a veteran during the Vietnam War. The project was Merry Airbrakes\, a 1973 protest tinged LP with tracks Country Joe McDonald later covered. In the following 30 plus years Slim has been a truck driver\, forklift operator\, sawmiller (where he lost a partial finger)\, firewood salesman\, collection agent\, funeral officiator and at times a small time criminal. Due to aforementioned criminality\, Slim was forced to flee Boston where he had played peace rallies\, sit-ins and rabbleroused musically with the likes of Bonnie Raitt. Recently Raitt singled out Slim to her audience as a living blues legend during a summer 2009 performance. \nFrom Boston Slim landed in his current home state of Oklahoma farming watermelons – hence his stage name. Somewhere in those decades since Vietnam Slim completed two undergrad and a master’s degree\, started a family\, painted art and joined Mensa\, the social networking group reserved for members with certified genius IQs. When he’s not on tour Slim loves to fish and garden. \nThe big turning point was 2002 when Slim suffered a near fatal heart attack. His brush with death gave him a new perspective on mortality\, direction and life ambitions and thus his second emergence as a performing musician. Eleven albums later he says\, “Everything I do now has a sharper pleasure to it. I’ve lived a fuller life than most people could in two. If I go now\, I’ve got a good education\, I’ve lived on three continents\, and I’ve played music with a bunch of immortal blues players. I’ve fought in a war and against a war. I’ve seen an awful lot and I’ve done an awful lot. If my plane went down tomorrow\, I’d go out on top.” And when you watch him perform\, you know every word is true. \nThroughout his storied past\, it has always been truck driving that Slim returned to. While trucking and hauling industrial waste for thankless bosses at hourly wages to support himself and his family\, his id yearned for release of the musician inside. In fact\, many of Slim’s current songs began a cappella in his rig keeping him awake and entertained. Slim’s music captures those long hours of now and then\, finally and cathartically acquiescing to his id. \n—————————————————————————————– \nSinger/songwriter Rich Travis\, plays a wide range of Americana music based in the blues tradition.  \nHis influences are Jim Morrison\, John Prine and Jerry Garcia to name a few. In 2011\, he founded Warrior Songs Inc. –  a non-profit organization committed to facilitating healing through songwriting and music amongst United States Military personnel\, veterans and those working with veterans. Established musicians work with veterans to develop their written works and then turn these pieces into a platform for self-expression and healing.  He has won numerous WAMI awards (Wisconsin Area Music Industry) for his music and work! \n\n\n\n\n
