It’s an album that at times sounds like it would pair perfectly with a cocktail at The Jazz Estate\, but at others it exceeds that atmosphere with rambunctious outbursts.” — Mike Holloway\, Shepherd Express \n\nGraduated from Lawrence University’s Conservatory of Music in 2016 with a Bachelor of Music in Contemporary Improvisation\, a self-designed major. DESCRIPTION:10:00pm SSAANN\n9:00pm Chris Haise Trio\n8:00pm Karmon Blu\n7:30pm Andii\n6:30pm Doors  $10 \nSSAANN is a Milwaukee\, WI artist whose “Synthesizer\, visceral lyrics\, relaxed vocals & mellow rhythms give listeners a time to reflect on the present & feel grounded within the search of ultimate balance.” \nThe Milwaukee based Chris Haise Band‘s (pronounced Hi-zee) music is a blend of hook filled ballads and toe tappers. Mixing Folk and Rock\, Haise’s vocals have been described as Dylan meets Springsteen meets Petty\, while his lyrics have been described as “smart new songwriting” and “Intense\, Thoughtful Songcraft”. In 2017\, Chris Haise released his solo album entitled “Your Ugly Friends” which was nominated for 88Nine’s Music Awards for Album of the Year\, Independent Release of the Year\, and Solo Artist of the Year. He was also selected as NSAI “One to Watch” along with winning Dylan Days Singer/Songwriter Contest. \nKarmon Blu – With over thirty years in the music business\, it is Keshena The Artist’s staying power and vocal prowess that has sustained her. The trained musician – who got her start in the church like most legendary singers do – is a self-taught instrumentalist and soul singer at heart. And better believe\, she is as versatile as she is soulful. Keshena The Artist has sung everything from folk to blues and rock n’roll\, and has studied music theory and performance\, and jazz vocals under the tutelage of Adekola Adedapo and graduated from MATC’s music occupations program. \nANDII wasn’t supposed to be a musician—not if the scatter-brained\, ten-year-old version of herself had anything to say about it\, that is. \nGrowing up in a family of vocalists\, ANDII was drawn to visual arts\, literature\, and science instead. The very first thing she remembers wanting to be was an archeologist\, in fact. Music\, while ever-present in the way of hand-me-down guitars and long-forgotten lessons\, wasn’t something she imagined she’d ever be good at. \nAt 15 years old\, however\, she learned that her hearing would be lost in the matter of a few short decades due to a genetic anomaly. Unsure of when she might lose the gift of sound\, her desire to author music intensified. She taught herself the basics of guitar\, leaning on the distant memories of lessons she’d taken previously. She first learned songs by some of her favorite artists\, building an understanding of songwriting and storytelling\, until she finally broke away and began writing her own material. \nMore than a decade later\, ANDII has written dozens of songs about life\, love\, and loss\, and there simply isn’t any path that makes more sense for her than that of musicality and vulnerability.

DESCRIPTION:Doghouse Flowers was formed in early 2012. Anchored by the singing and songwriting talent of Justin Reuther\, the group came together after Reuther relocated to Milwaukee from New Orleans\, LA. The members of Doghouse Flowers came from a variety of bands and musical projects in the Milwaukee area. \nSince forming\, the group has taken every available opportunity to perform live; honing their live act at events and watering holes in Milwaukee\, Madison\, and throughout the rest of Southeastern Wisconsin. With a repertoire weighing heavily on original material the band is releasing its debut CD “Chasing the Sun” in early 2014. Reuther’s songwriting and performance background has been primarily as a solo artist. Tracing his musical tastes to 70’s country rock with its lyric driven harmonies and tasteful arrangements. Reuther crafted a sound that has been committed to\ntruth yet impossibly romantic at times “degenerative love songs” he calls them. Further describing his unique sound\, “I love country but I can’t deny the influence of rock and a harder sound in our music at times.” \nThe Macchio Effect formed in January of 2021. Former members of Slurr\, Bosio\, Psuedo Slinkee\, The Huge Beaumonts\, The Rebuilts\, No Direction\, Lost Idols…. \nDoors open at 7pm\, show at 8pm. $10 Cover

DESCRIPTION:CARRIE NATION THE SPEAKEASY is a high-energy “Brass ‘n’ Grass” quintet from Wichita\, KS. The band\, whose sound has been described as “…a stagecoach in overdrive”\, has brought their eclectic blend of bluegrass\, ska\, punk\, and dixieland to packed clubs\, basements\, and festivals across the US since their inception in the spring of 2007. \nCNS has built a solid following playing 49 states and 8 countries with their energetic live show and ability to fit on the bill with acts ranging from bluegrass to rockabilly; punk to ska.  Thoughtful songwriting is delivered through unique arrangements and unconventional instrumentation. Throaty vocals charge over percussive guitar rhythms. Breakneck mandolin solos melt into blaring trombone and trumpet lines\, while the standup bass and charging drums churn out driving rhythms that carry the force of a Kansas freight train. \nSteering Ships With Empty Bottles (S.S. Web):  Spontaneous. Surprising. Weird. Energetic. Boozy. These are just some of the words that have been used to describe Milwaukee dark roots band Steering Ships With Empty Bottles. With an eclectic mix of traditional roots sounds\, fast-paced punk and rock riffs\, and soulful lyrics it’s no wonder they’ve set themselves apart in an expansive musical landscape. With songs to get your feet stomping and your heart weeping\, there truly is something for everyone in their craft. This has offered them the fortunate opportunitie to spread their sound both all across the United States and abroad. \n \nWith four full-length albums\, multiple split EPs\, and tracks on a slew of samplers across the globe\, you can always be sure that there’s something new on the way. The tides may change\, but the ship with always sail. \nHighlonesome is as real as yer busted heart and empty wallet… \n \nCarry Nation & the Speak Easy w/ S.S. Web\, Highlonesome\, & Dig Deep. \nDoors at 6pm\, Show at 7pm.  Cover $8

DESCRIPTION:Jesús grew up in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin\, across from a corn field. His house was always filled with music\, and he began playing guitar at age 10. By high school he was writing music and performing professionally. In 2017 Jesús co-founded the Kangaroo Lake Songwriters Collective. He began writing and recording new material\, started Dad’s Red Chair Music publishing company\, and in August 2020 he released The Lone Pine Sessions\, his first solo EP – performed and recorded by himself in his basement and at a friend’s cabin. Tired of performing his original music solo\, in 2022 he brought together the Unrulies\, the best damn bar band in southeastern Wisconsin\, featuring bassist Jeff Schissler\, guitarist Jim Schultz\, drummer Eric Gullickson\, and backing vocalist Paula Treacy. \nJesús is a Wisconsin Music Ventures Green Room member\, and has been a featured artist on Wisconsin’s Amplified Artists Series in 2021. He has been featured on the Wisconsin Music Podcast\, and his songs have been played on local radio in Milwaukee and other cities. \nOrlando Peña is a Singer/Songwriter from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. He is also the writer and singer for The Midnight Purchase. After spending a few years on a goat farm in rural Illinois honing his craft\, Peña returned to Milwaukee with more focus and hard earned experience.  Peña makes use of his commanding vocal ability to deliver honest\, often introspective lyrics  about foolishness\, loss\, love\, and the constant search for a purpose. His stories are fully realized with the help of The Midnight Purchase\, a group of some of Milwaukee’s finest musicians. Together they bring an energetic and passionate live performance to every stage they touch. With so many talented folks coming together for one purpose it’s no surprise that in 2021 alone they’ve already picked up a win for Shepherd Express’s Best of Milwaukee for Folk Band and a nomination for “New Artist of the Year” by the WAMI Awards. What ever may come\, it’s evident that this is just the beginning for Orlando Peña and The Midnight Purchase. \n \nDoors at 6pm\, showtime 7pm.  $10 Cover

Wire & Nail formed in early 2017\, when members of multiple Milwaukee bands bonded over their love of Outlaw Country and Classic American Rock N Roll. DESCRIPTION:Jonny T-Bird & the MPs CD Release \nJon “Jonny T-Bird” Neuberger (guitar/harmonica/vocals) \nThe architect and bandleader of Jonny T-Bird & the MPs.  Some say you have to be born with the blues to play the blues.  That was the case when Jon was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at an early age.  Known as the mild form of the autism spectrum.  But that didn’t stop Jon from picking up the guitar at the age of thirteen. Back then\, Jon studied under two of Milwaukee’s guitar legends\, Jeff Dagenhardt and Greg Koch. Jon was given the name JONNY T-BIRD while he was a student at Wauwatosa West High School and one of his teachers (Bob Bathurst) called him that name out of the blue. The more he did it\, the more that name stuck. Jon was learning classic rock songs and played with various bands during his teenage years. While he went to college at both MATC and Carroll University\, Jon finally decided to pursue his music into blues and jazz.  Jon can also be found giving private guitar and bass lessons if he’s not performing. \nMulti-instrumentalist Julia Lewandowski (Singer/saxophonist Wonderful Bluffer) opens the show. \nDoors at 3pm\, show at 4pm\, $10 cover

The Milwaukeean’s breezy voice and disarming wit belie a deep complexity\, bringing a new set of rules to the singer-songwriter paradigm. Across her career\, Conway has shared stages with such heavy hitters as Phoebe Bridgers\, Julien Baker\, Lomelda\, and more. \n \nScam Likely opens the evening. \n7pm doors\, 8pm show\, $10 cover

DESCRIPTION:5PM to Nowhere is an alt-pop project formed in 2020 by Milwaukee singer-songwriter Jacob Webb. Evoking the emotional balladry of Coldplay and the thematic songwriting of Sufjan Stevens\, he explores his own experiences and hopes in his music. Webb’s musical journey began following the passing of his father when he was eight years old; searching for an outlet for the grief and loneliness eating at his heart\, he turned to writing and performing music. \nWhile studying music composition at Northwestern University in Chicago\, Webb entered the OnRecord Songwriting Competition\, a music competition involving students from Chicago-area universities\, winning the competition with his song “Rumination”. During his time at Northwestern\, Webb was the Music Director of THUNK A Cappella\, and notably arranged the group’s viral cover of Bishop Briggs’ “River”. \n5PM to Nowhere’s upcoming release\, Stoicism\, serves as a culmination of 15 years of musical and emotional exploration\, delving into Webb’s long and tumultuous journey of self-discovery. It sees a talented songwriter and storyteller coming into his own\, with a sound that is at once nostalgic yet fresh and ear-grabbing. Stoicism drops on May 13. \nBegun in 2020 in Milwaukee\, WI as a quarantine hobby\, Oh Geeez quickly evolved from a YouTube animation reaction channel to a prolific music-making force. Comprised of frontmen Sean McGibany (vocals) and Jack Gilmond (guitar)\, with drums and percussion provided by Columbus\, OH drummer Alex Dollenmayer\, the trio crafts sincere\, hook-laden pop/rock songs about family\, friends\, and fantasy. They invite you to escape with them! \nDoors at 7pm\, show at 8pm\, Cover $10
