SUMMARY:June 17\, 2022
DESCRIPTION:Jesús grew up in a small town in southeastern Wisconsin\, across from a corn field. His house was always filled with music\, and he began playing guitar at age 10. By high school he was writing music and performing professionally. In 2017 Jesús co-founded the Kangaroo Lake Songwriters Collective. He began writing and recording new material\, started Dad’s Red Chair Music publishing company\, and in August 2020 he released The Lone Pine Sessions\, his first solo EP – performed and recorded by himself in his basement and at a friend’s cabin. Tired of performing his original music solo\, in 2022 he brought together the Unrulies\, the best damn bar band in southeastern Wisconsin\, featuring bassist Jeff Schissler\, guitarist Jim Schultz\, drummer Eric Gullickson\, and backing vocalist Paula Treacy. \nJesús is a Wisconsin Music Ventures Green Room member\, and has been a featured artist on Wisconsin’s Amplified Artists Series in 2021. He has been featured on the Wisconsin Music Podcast\, and his songs have been played on local radio in Milwaukee and other cities. \nOrlando Peña is a Singer/Songwriter from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. He is also the writer and singer for The Midnight Purchase. After spending a few years on a goat farm in rural Illinois honing his craft\, Peña returned to Milwaukee with more focus and hard earned experience.  Peña makes use of his commanding vocal ability to deliver honest\, often introspective lyrics  about foolishness\, loss\, love\, and the constant search for a purpose. His stories are fully realized with the help of The Midnight Purchase\, a group of some of Milwaukee’s finest musicians. Together they bring an energetic and passionate live performance to every stage they touch. With so many talented folks coming together for one purpose it’s no surprise that in 2021 alone they’ve already picked up a win for Shepherd Express’s Best of Milwaukee for Folk Band and a nomination for “New Artist of the Year” by the WAMI Awards. What ever may come\, it’s evident that this is just the beginning for Orlando Peña and The Midnight Purchase. \n \nDoors at 6pm\, showtime 7pm.  $10 Cover

DESCRIPTION:Daniel Rey is an Americana/Alt-Country Singer/Songwriter from Milwaukee\, WI living in Chicago. He is well known as founding member\, bassist\, and songwriter for the long-time popular Milwaukee band The Gufs. \nWire & Nail is a Rock N Roll band from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. Wire & Nail formed in early 2017\, when members of multiple Milwaukee bands bonded over their love of Outlaw Country and Classic American Rock N Roll. Like many of their influences\, Wire and Nail strive to write and perform music that is genuine\, enjoyable and unapologetic. They released their self titled EP in the Summer of 2017\, which can be found everywhere music is sold or streamed. Wire & Nail is Phil Bregant\, JT Gylland\, Ryan Moran\, and Cass Borgardt. \nDIRTY GREEN (Chicago) is authentic heart-wailing\, folkin’ punktry music. Open your ears and ya just might hear: a lonesome ballad or a blue-collar rant\, a pseudo-rockabilly romp\, a bar room hobo jingle or a good ol’ barn-burner. DIRTY GREEN don’t grow on trees—-so come join in the romp while the gettins’ good!\nVocal/Guitar: Aaron Mitchell\nLead Guitar/ lapsteel: Dennis Kardys\nDrums/percussion: Dean Radzik\nUpright Bass: Maggie Dahlberg and vocals \nFor more than a decade\, Joe Crockett served as the unmistakable voice and bandleader of locally-lauded folk band The Championship. At the tail end of that time\, though\, the gaps between shows grew wider as Crockett’s counterparts grew busier\, leaving the troubadour to sparingly play stripped-down versions of the band’s vast catalog in intimate solo sets. With The Championship’s progress all but halted\, Crockett decided to pile his artistic aspirations into a new creative vessel with a new cast of collaborators. \nThat project\, Rx Drugs\, found Crockett fronting a full-fledged new band that features a solid group of musicians with impressive musical résumés\, boasting members of Dashboard Confessional\, Hugh Bob & The Hustle\, Trapper Schoepp And The Shades\, and The Championship. \nDoors at 7pm\, show at 8pm\, $10 Cover \n8:00- Joe Crockett \n8:55- Daniel Rey \n9:50- Dirty Green \n10:45-Wire & Nail

DESCRIPTION:Jonny T-Bird & the MPs CD Release \nJon “Jonny T-Bird” Neuberger (guitar/harmonica/vocals) \nThe architect and bandleader of Jonny T-Bird & the MPs.  Some say you have to be born with the blues to play the blues.  That was the case when Jon was diagnosed with Asperger’s Syndrome at an early age.  Known as the mild form of the autism spectrum.  But that didn’t stop Jon from picking up the guitar at the age of thirteen. Back then\, Jon studied under two of Milwaukee’s guitar legends\, Jeff Dagenhardt and Greg Koch. Jon was given the name JONNY T-BIRD while he was a student at Wauwatosa West High School and one of his teachers (Bob Bathurst) called him that name out of the blue. The more he did it\, the more that name stuck. Jon was learning classic rock songs and played with various bands during his teenage years. While he went to college at both MATC and Carroll University\, Jon finally decided to pursue his music into blues and jazz.  Jon can also be found giving private guitar and bass lessons if he’s not performing. \nMulti-instrumentalist Julia Lewandowski (Singer/saxophonist Wonderful Bluffer) opens the show. \nDoors at 3pm\, show at 4pm\, $10 cover

DESCRIPTION:Kyle John Kenowski is a Milwaukee based musician and animator whose music is best described as “classical psychedelic folk pop”. His music ranges from triumphant to devastating\, from scary to sweet\, decorated with lilting classical guitar passages and a thousand different voices. \nIn November 2020 he released the animated music video TRUSTWORMY which was published by Adult Swim alongside his album NEED DISEASE.  Now\, join us for a night of brilliant musical craftsmanship\, and stunning kaleidoscopic animation as Kyle releases his new EP and animation video. \n \nRooted in folk but hardly bound to it\, Caley Conway‘s inventive style ranges from jazz to post-rock\, hints at the familiar\, and embraces a dissonant beauty. The Milwaukeean’s breezy voice and disarming wit belie a deep complexity\, bringing a new set of rules to the singer-songwriter paradigm. Across her career\, Conway has shared stages with such heavy hitters as Phoebe Bridgers\, Julien Baker\, Lomelda\, and more. \n \nScam Likely opens the evening. \n7pm doors\, 8pm show\, $10 cover

DESCRIPTION:5PM to Nowhere is an alt-pop project formed in 2020 by Milwaukee singer-songwriter Jacob Webb. Evoking the emotional balladry of Coldplay and the thematic songwriting of Sufjan Stevens\, he explores his own experiences and hopes in his music. Webb’s musical journey began following the passing of his father when he was eight years old; searching for an outlet for the grief and loneliness eating at his heart\, he turned to writing and performing music. \nWhile studying music composition at Northwestern University in Chicago\, Webb entered the OnRecord Songwriting Competition\, a music competition involving students from Chicago-area universities\, winning the competition with his song “Rumination”. During his time at Northwestern\, Webb was the Music Director of THUNK A Cappella\, and notably arranged the group’s viral cover of Bishop Briggs’ “River”. \n5PM to Nowhere’s upcoming release\, Stoicism\, serves as a culmination of 15 years of musical and emotional exploration\, delving into Webb’s long and tumultuous journey of self-discovery. It sees a talented songwriter and storyteller coming into his own\, with a sound that is at once nostalgic yet fresh and ear-grabbing. Stoicism drops on May 13. \nBegun in 2020 in Milwaukee\, WI as a quarantine hobby\, Oh Geeez quickly evolved from a YouTube animation reaction channel to a prolific music-making force. Comprised of frontmen Sean McGibany (vocals) and Jack Gilmond (guitar)\, with drums and percussion provided by Columbus\, OH drummer Alex Dollenmayer\, the trio crafts sincere\, hook-laden pop/rock songs about family\, friends\, and fantasy. They invite you to escape with them! \nDoors at 7pm\, show at 8pm\, Cover $10

DESCRIPTION:Holly and the Nice Lions are a three piece rock-n-roll monster named by one of front woman\, Holly Trasti’s\, young students. Their stage presence has been said to rival those of Iggy and the Stooges\, Patti Smith\, The MC5\, and The Yeah Yeah Yeah’s. Their recorded efforts reflect a controlled chaos shining through their darkened and thunderous overtones. Drummer Travis Pashek hits like he is trying to move mountains sonically while keeping everything together. Bassist Steven Spoerl rides the line of melody maker and stark\, percussive passion. Holly Trasti wields her guitar prowess with abandon while delivering vocals of the same manner. Holly and the Nice Lions are not suited to be a backdrop to an experience\, but rather a band to be experienced. \nFake Blind Date is Kari Lueneberg aka Molli Putz\, on guitar\, lead vocal\, and flute; journeyman bassist\, singer\, ‘n’ harmonica-slinger Paul McComas; unparalleled up-‘n’-comer Megan Rault on sax\, flute\, ‘n’ jazz vocal; and “Peter Van Eck a- drummin’ like HECK!” \nVac card/Negative Covid test required for entry. \nDoors at 7pm\, show at 8pm\, $10 cover

DESCRIPTION:Powered by Louie Lucchesi’s unmistakable voice\, Louie & The Flashbombs perform original songs co-authored by Lucchesi and veteran Milwaukee songwriter Mike Benign. The Flashbombs’ songs blend Lucchesi’s love of 1970s New York City rock with Benign’s knack for hooky alternative pop. \nRounding out The Flahsbombs are a Who’s Who of Milwaukee musicians: drummer Bo Conlon (BoDeans\, Pat McCurdy\, Crime Family)\, bass Paul Biemann (Blue in The Face\, The Mike Benign Compulsion\, Arms & Legs & Feet)\, guitarist Al Hildenbrand (Pet Engine\, Britpop) and keyboardist Matt Meixner (Mea Jima\, Milwaukee Underground Duo). \nLucchesi began his career performing at notorious New York City nightclubs like Tramps\, CBGB’s and The Bitter End. He returned to Milwaukee and fronted bands that included Crime Family\, Brother Louie and Klaus Nomi’s Homies. \nLiv Mueller: Singing/writing years ago in a Rockabilly band called “The Screaming Lillies” & barely 19\, Liv packed up and re-located herself to Nashville from the Midwest\, where she performed at places like ‘Tootsies’ and ‘The Rose Room’ while supplementing her income occasionally by playing for money on the streets with an open guitar case. \nNot long after Nashville\, Austin became her next home wherein she formed the first incarnation of ‘The Lovelies’…Re-forming the band after returning to the Midwest is where The Lovelies had the most success. After recording four records\, touring & charting nationally twice\, the band ended in 2004/05. \nTwo albums were released under her next endeavor\, ‘The Dark Horse Project’\, production team Marc Hutner & Grant Curry (Pleasure Club) helped her to refine a new sound she had envisioned…… capturing a beautiful \, haunted landscape of listening. Recording deep in the south of Louisiana proved to be just what she needed to unearth her next phase of writing\, and performing. \nIn the last several years however\, Liv prefers to play solo\, releasing now two records..The first solo release entitled ‘LIV SINGS’ Love Songs For The Forlorn And Misguided\, and the second 2017 release entitled ‘LIV SINGS Light Of The Valley Shadow Of The Mountain’ both of which she composed\, played\, recorded and mixed nearly the entire album alone in her home studio. Both albums are now available through cdbaby\, and itunes. \nDoors at 7:30pm\, show at 8:30pm. Cover $10

Doors at 7pm\, show at 8:00pm. \nBill Camplin is a singer/songwriter and acoustic guitarist who began playing professionally in the Milwaukee Area in the late 1960’s. Bill writes and arranges his own material and has produced a considerable body of work. Bill was an integral part of the Milwaukee acoustic folk scene for many years and appeared regularly at various clubs including the Blue River Café\, Numero Unos\, The Crystal Palace\, The Avante Garde and the 19th Street Coffee House. \nBand Members\nJASON KLAGSTAD – Guitars\, backing vocals – Jason is considered one of the top live and studio musicians in the Milwaukee area and has been playing professionally for over 45 years. \nHe has been a member of several area and nationally known bands\, including stints with Howie Epstein (Tom Petty)\, Jerry Harrison (Talking Heads)\, Arroyo\, Color Radio\, Warner Bros. recording artist\, Semi-Twang\, Bill Camplin (since 1974) and the local rock band favorite\, Plumb Loco. His distinctive guitar playing style has been featured on many recordings. With Peter Buffet for example\, he recorded film\, tv and recording projects\, appearing on 3 Buffett albums and the soundtrack for the Kevin Costner television special\, 500 Nations. During his performing/recording career\, Jason also ran several area music stores\, including his own – Big Music\, a specialty music instrument store\, until the mid1990’s. \nPAUL WEHRLEY – Bass guitar – Although Paul played trombone in marching band while in high school\, he did not envision trombone as his musical nexus. A couple of friends needed a bass player and Paul\, always the organizer\, agreed. From 1974 – 1982 Paul co-founded and played with both RIO and Arroyo\, two of the region’s seminal Country Rock bands. His early immersion in that genre provided a deep connection with Bill Camplin’s material. \nAfter his four year stint with Arroyo he became one of region’s top studio engineers\, typically working out of Waukesha’s Breezeway studios producing albums for many regional and national Artists. During this time he also played for many years with local cover rock band\, Plumb Loco. Today\, Paul is a property manager and lives in Elm Grove with his wife Jane.
