SUMMARY:Resurrectionists w/ Haploid\, Operations\, & Sun Silo * July 13\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Resurrectionists\, a band hailing from Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. \nHistory and Formation: \nThe Resurrectionists came together in early 2019. The project emerged after the breakup of another band called Work\, in which the bassist and singer/guitarist Joe Cannon were both members. \nWork had a mix of punk energy and slower\, desperate-sounding songs. When Work disbanded due to the drummer moving to Texas\, Joe and bassist Jeff Brueggeman explored various successor projects. \nThe Resurrectionists were born out of the idea of focusing exclusively on the slower\, more melancholic side of their music \n \n\nHaploid: A venn diagram of noise/indie/prog/pop. I love venn diagrams. \n \n\nOperations is an indie rock band based in Milwaukee\, Wisconsin. The duo\, consisting of Charles Markowiak and Alisa Rodriguez (Apollo Vermouth)\, formed the band in spring 2018 while playing together in the group Sundial Mottos. In Operations\, they share guitar\, songwriting\, and vocal duties. John Schoneman from the slowcore-worship group Haunter plays drums\, and Sam Gargulak handles bass. Since December 2018\, Operations has been performing shows in and around Milwaukee. Their debut album\, Fog Museum\, was recorded in Chicago\, IL\, during Labor Day weekend in 2019. It was engineered and mixed by Dave Vettraino (from The Hecks) and mastered by Mikey Young (known for Eddy Current Suppression Ring and Total Control) \n \n\nSun Silo   is a four-piece art rock group based in Kenosha Wisconsin. Combining elements of psychedelic rock\, jazz\, and dream pop\, the group maintains to write and release music with an explorative spirit and lighthearted creativity. \n \n\nDoors 7:30pm\, Music 8:00pm\, $10

SUMMARY:Daniel Rey & the Revenirs w/ Bellends\, & Eric Hagen * June 7\, 2024
DESCRIPTION:Daniel Rey & the Revenirs are a Chicago Alt-Country outfit whose tunes embrace a sonic sensibility reminiscent of the Drive-By Truckers\, Whiskeytown\, Son Volt and the Sadies. \nThe Revenirs sound revolves around singer/songwriter Daniel Rey’s tales of “sorrow and solitude” like a fever dream embodied by the many “low down” souls he’s encountered along the way. The band features Dennis Kardys on guitar and Dean Radzik on drums\, both alums of Chicagoland alt-country darlings\, The Dirty Green alongside former The Soup (Denton TX) bassist\, Dodgy Mary (Chicago) vocalist and Lone Star Native “Catfish” Willy Hudson on bass. \n“Daniel Rey” began as the solo Alt-country\, side-project of singer/songwriter Dejan Kralj (day-on kraal)\, who has spent the last three and a half decades as the bass guitarist and one of the primary songwriters for Milwaukee’s reclusive alternative-rock band\, The Gufs.  The former Atlantic Recording/EMI Publishing Artist and 2012 Wisconsin Area Music Industry Hall of Fame Inductee is a life-time resident of the Midwest\, Rey (the Spanish translation of Kralj) and divides his time between his current home in the Veltway community of Berwyn and a small farm in Southeastern Indiana\, which has been the source of his alt-folk/alt-country musings over the last twenty-five years. \n\nBellends formed in the studio around a project that evolved into the record “A Feast for the Crows”  Now making waves with their unique mix of heady driving rhythms\, soaring guitar solos\, and lyrics that cut straight to the heart. Their songs tell the stories of love\, loss\, and the struggles of everyday life with the passion and intensity that could only come from the streets and dives of Milwaukee. When they take the stage\, the band delivers their catchy hook driven songs with that same train driving intensity.  Beginning to end their performances are moving as they are powerful. \n \n\nBased in the MIdwest\, Eric Hagen‘s well-rooted sound rings with perplexing authenticity\, suggesting he illegally phone-tapped into the wellspring at the heart of all timeless classics. Often praised for his powerful voice\, he can infuse a modern story with gospel-like depth. \nHagen has been writing and performing a delicate blend of intimate\, vulnerable lyrics and musical hooks. \nHis debut album\, “Revival”\, received rave reviews. \nAmericana UK gave the album a 9 out of 10 and said “‘Revival’ is emotionally challenging and beautiful. Savour this album slowly\, first listening to the careful mixture of music and mood\, then allowing yourself to be moved by the memories it revives while marvelling at the magic of the man who put it all together. \nHagen’s new EP\, “Memories Don’t Love You Back”\, is out now on all streaming platforms. \n \n\nDoors at 7:00pm\, Music at 7:30pm\, $10

DESCRIPTION:Lost Orange Cat is a Milwaukee Folk N’ Roll group comprised of four members. Their catalog features original material composed and written by the members of the band. Lost Orange Cat has a unique combination that will rotate between both Josh Konkel on guitar and Daniel Rathmann on Bass as the lead vocalist\, while also flipping between their primary instruments. Add a mandolin\, played by Joe Royten\, into a singer songwriter rock n’ roll band along with full drums and percussion provided by Kyle Ciske and you get the individualistic sound that is… Folk N Roll. \n \n\nFor more than eight years and 500+ shows the ever-evolving Americana outfit Gin Mill Hollow has been showcasing their unique approach to string-band music throughout the mid-west and beyond. Born as an acoustic duo at the Up North Bar in Madison\, Wisconsin\, the group found traction in the area after adding mandolin and eventually percussion to the mix. As a four-piece band\, Gin Mill Hollow’s performances sound more like a rock show\, often with electric guitar and effected mandolin solos soaring over driving rhythm and harmony. Blending genres like bluegrass and folk with jazz and blues\, the live experience is enhanced by an engaging lighting display\, syncing the aural and visual senses. With two studio albums to their credit\, the band continues to write new material with plans to record and release these works in various media formats. \n \n\nDoors 7pm\, Music\, 8pm\, $15

DESCRIPTION:Cozy Danger is a jangly rock trio that takes influence from a Milwaukee sound that defined bands like Soul Low\, Jaill\, and Sat. Night Duets. \nCozy Danger is the surf garage passion project of Jake Brandt\, Chris Vertovec and Phil Gieschen. Born from the bend of Milwaukee’s indie rock scene\, their jangly brand of surf garage teeters between surf driven garage pop\, funk-tinged rock\, and smiley punk. Simply put\, this band is dog-friendly and fun AF. Cozy Danger is fresh off a year of break-out shows including a sold out Edelweiss Concert Cruise\, Milwaukee street fests like Summer Soulstice Festival\, and a record release show at Shank Hall. Their latest single\, “Basement Uno” spins regularly in rotation on 88.9 Radio Milwaukee. \n \n\nArriving from out of the woods somewhere between Wisconsin and Ohio\, Oh Geeez\, Not Again is here to soundtrack your expedition through the wilderness of reality. The midwestern indie pop quartet – Sean McGibany (vocals/guitar/banjo/mandolin)\, Jack Gilmond (vocals/guitar)\, Alex Dollenmayer (drums)\, and Joe Ludwig (bass) – are lifelong musical adventurers and distill their sound from an eclectic blend of 2000’s pop punk\, 2010’s alternative\, and 90’s country. Specializing in colorful lyrics\, driving organic beats\, and nonstop melodic hooks\, their songs are sure to get stuck in your head and make you feel like the protagonist in your own coming of age movie. Following a rebrand in early 2024\, Oh Geeez Not Again is hard at work with producer Nick Cesarz on a new full-length project. This upcoming concept album details a story about the adventures\, perils\, and possibilities of growing up and leaving home\, and will release in autumn\, 2024. \n \n\nThe Fall Sound is a Pop Punk(-ish) band from Milwaukee. DESCRIPTION:Erik Koskinen is an American singer-songwriter\, multi-instrumentalist and producer\, whose music is not categorized by sub-genres.  Stylistically he is on his own while heavily influenced by American roots music. The rhythmic integrity and musical tone is as important as the lyrical content and the artistic intent.  Koskinen has reverently entered the anthology of uniquely crafted wry songs with the likes of Woody Guthrie and Ry Cooder while speaking as plainly as your neighbor. The Minneapolis Star Tribune calls Koskinen “the real deal” and “The best country songwriter in Minnesota” \n“Writes like Dylan\, looks like Hank Williams\, walks like John Wayne\, smokes like James Dean\, and plays like no one else.” — SPINOUT RECORDS \n \n\nLong Mama’s music blisters with the heart and grit of someone who has lost hard\, loved harder\, and licked her burns until they stung then silvered. In a drafty attic just west of the Milwaukee River she grew up on\, you’ll find songwriter Kat Wodtke (Wood-key) raking through notebooks in search of a salve: words\, stories\, and sounds to temper the dumpster fires we never mean to light. Flickering behind each song is Wodtke’s lived insight into our human faults & fissures – the moments in life when we can slip and lose our footing\, or claw our way out…better people on the other side of the blaze. \nWodtke coined the name Long Mama (after a prickly\, shade-loving cactus) and teamed up with guitarist Andrew Koenig and drummer Nick Lang\, a pair whose chemistry adds dusky afterglow to Wodtke’s musical landscapes. Upright bass ace Samual Odin came aboard soon after\, along with regular collaborator Eva Nimmer\, whose backing vocals blend so elegantly with Wodtke’s that one could mistake them for blood harmonies. \n \n\nDandy Freling:   A highway-kind traveler combining a touch of the high and lonesome hollers of the Appalachian hill people with the low-down\, dusty grooves of the cosmic cowboys\, Dandy has created a unique sonic banquet sure to satisfy the hunger of any weary passerby. A boot stompin’ finger picker with remnant hollers of the greats of our past – Don’t be afraid to stop awhile\, and fill up your plate\, there’s plenty to go around. \nWebsite: https://www.dandyfreling.com/ \nYoutube: https://www.youtube.com/@dandyl.freling467/videos \nBandcamp: https://dandylfreling.bandcamp.com/ \nInstagram: https://www.instagram.com/dandyfreling/ \nFacebook: https://www.facebook.com/dandy.l.freling/ \n \n\nDoors at 7pm\, Music at 8pm\, $15

DESCRIPTION:5PM to Nowhere is an alt-pop project formed in 2020 by Milwaukee singer-songwriter Jacob Webb. Evoking the emotional balladry of Coldplay and the thematic songwriting of Sufjan Stevens\, he explores his own experiences and hopes in his music. Webb’s musical journey began following the passing of his father when he was eight years old; searching for an outlet for the grief and loneliness eating at his heart\, he turned to writing and performing music. \nWhile studying music composition at Northwestern University in Chicago\, Webb entered the OnRecord Songwriting Competition\, a music competition involving students from Chicago-area universities\, winning the competition with his song “Rumination”. During his time at Northwestern\, Webb was the Music Director of THUNK A Cappella\, and notably arranged the group’s viral cover of Bishop Briggs’ “River”. 5PM to Nowhere released it’s debut album Stoicism to critical acclaim in the summer of 2022! \n \n  \n\nBLACKTOP (MKE): https://blacktopmakesmusic.bandcamp.com/ \nBlacktop is the independent recording project of Milwaukee-based multi-instrumentalist and producer\, Austin Wood. Blacktop draws from a large pool of influence – from Ethiopian jazz and Latin rhythms of the 1960-70s to modern pop and alternative artists such as levitation room\, Babe Rainbow\, Skinshape\, Loving\, and Kate Bollinger. With nearly all recording\, mixing\, and production being done in Wood’s home studio\, the music of Blacktop is adorned with gentle and dreamy vocals\, washed-out guitars\, and acoustic percussion and rhythmic elements. The project’s core is rooted in the spiritual and Zen philosophy of dwelling in the present moment\, mindfulness\, and impermanence. Blacktop is able to be heard through the airwaves on 889 Radio Milwaukee\, and is featured on Lilliput Record’s “Local Milwaukee Showcase”. \n \n\nOliver Dodge rounds out the bill. \n\nDoors at 7pm Music at 8pm\, $10
