Local DIY cryptids The Unitaskers are bringing a smorgasbord of tunes new and old to a venue near you. Full-length album coming sometime between now and the heat death of the universe.
Man Random is a punky Milwaukee-based DIY power pop four-piece. Their punchy hooks and fuzzy melodies cast a neon light over heavy lyrics that cover relationships, existential dread, and the unique struggles of being alive right now. Formed in 2016 by guitarist/vocalist Steven Baird and bassist Benjamin Meredith, they rounded out their lineup in 2019 with guitarist Matt Schmus and drummer Nate Otto.
Their lead single “Never Get It Right”, which will be released on 8/6 along with a music video, is a deliciously frustrated manifestation of living presently in the moment of failure. It’s punk and surf-rock influenced chorus takes you by the shoulders, shakes you, and asks what you’re doing with your life. “Never Get It Right” is a follow up to Man Random’s three quarantine period releases, “Can’t Sit Still”, “Death Perception” and “100%”. This triumvirate of power pop anthems share hooky leads, a head banging tempo, and lyrics that tackle fear, failure, and introspection.
